Story Highlights
- Alan Wake 2 is one of the biggest releases of 2023, developed by Remedy Entertainment.
- The game has launched to exceptional reviews and ratings, coming 13 years after its prequel.
- All versions of Alan Wake 2 are in parity as Remedy updates the game’s Xbox Series X|S variant.
Remedy has pushed out an update for the Xbox Series X|S version of Alan Wake 2, making it come in parity with the game on other platforms, including PC and PlayStation 5. A little over 4 days ago, the day one patch for the survival thriller dropped, missing Xbox platforms at the time, but fixing bugs and localization issues while addressing an error message on other systems.
Not long after, the Xbox Series X|S version of Alan Wake 2’s day one patch dropped, titled v1.0.0.4, and resolved a host of troubles on the platform that were otherwise plaguing optimal user experience. The patch brought fixes for bugs, several visual issues, problems related to the user interface, and a specific bug that got players stuck when they interacted with anything, being unable to exit afterward.
To get you up to speed, Remedy released another hotfix for Alan Wake 2 yesterday, but only for PC and PS5 again, skipping Xbox systems momentarily. Given how today’s update is the same for Xbox as the one that came for the aforementioned platforms, the patch notes don’t differ. Alan Wake 2 on the Xbox Series X|S will now play smoother, thanks to the fixes for bugs and localization issues put in place.
It bears mentioning that Remedy has already done a great job releasing an exceptionally refined game. Looking at The Last of Us Part 1 PC, Redfall, and many others, such instances are hard to come in 2023, based on what we’ve seen so far. Alan Wake 2 currently sits at an 89 Metascore on Metacritic, garnering universal acclaim from fans and critics alike.
Much of this success is owed to Epic Games and its consistent effort to work in tandem with Remedy Entertainment, as Thomas Puha, the game’s Communication Director, has said in a recent tweet on X. “Shoutout to @EpicPublishing. They let us make the game we wanted. Nothing but supportive. Epic’s production team especially KILLED it on Alan Wake 2. They really care,” reads the post.
Alan Wake 2 was released on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 27, 2023. In eXputer’s review, Huzaifah Durrani rates the title 5/5, calling it Remedy’s greatest game to date.
