The Grappling Gun is one of the first technological weapons you can unlock in Palworld, and it lets you quickly climb slopes and traverse distances. However, there’s a significant leap between unlocking the weapon’s recipe and crafting it on a workbench, so you’ll need to start grinding if you want to use it as soon as possible. Additionally, it comes with an irritating drawback, which massively reduces its utility.
- Palworld’s Grappling Gun is a weapon that can help players traverse mountains and long distances but has a 12-second cooldown after each use.
- To unlock the Grappling Gun’s recipe, reach Level 12 on the latest in-game version or Level 10 on the Game Preview version and use 1 Ancient Technology Point.
- For the latest version, the items for crafting the Grappling Gun include 10x Paldium Fragments, 10x Ingots, 30x Fibers, and 1x Ancient Civilization Parts.
- The crafting recipe for the Game Preview version includes 10x Paldium Fragments, 30x Ingots, and 30x Fibers.
- Players can only craft the Grappling Gun on the Weapon Workbench, unlocked at Level 20.
How To Craft The Grappling Gun
Players can begin crafting the Grappling Gun in Palworld using Paldium Fragments, Fibers, and Ingots once they reach Level 10 (on Game Preview) or Level 12 (on the latest version) and use 1 Ancient Technology Point to unlock its recipe.
If you’re just starting, one of the quickest ways to get to Level 10 or 12 is by capturing powerful Pals, leveling them up, and taking on early boss fights, like the one in Rayne Syndicate Tower. Defeating any boss will give you at least 1 Ancient Technology Point, which you can then use to unlock the Grappling Gun’s recipe.
To craft the Grappling Gun if you’re playing on the Game Preview version, you will need the following items:
- 10x Paldium Fragments
- 30x Ingots
- 30x Fibers
- 1x Weapon Workbench
If you’re playing Palworld on the latest version, here are the items you’ll need:
- 10x Paldium Fragments
- 10x Ingots
- 30x Fibers
- 1x Ancient Civilization Parts
- 1x Weapon Workbench
How To Get The Crafting Items
If you’re struggling to find the items needed to craft the Grappling Gun, I’ve listed down the ways to obtain each one:
- Paldium Fragments: Can be farmed by mining rocks with a blue glow.
- Ingots: Obtained after melting 2 Ores in a Primitive Furnace.
- Fibers: Often dropped from chopping down trees.
- Ancient Civilization Parts: Dropped from bosses (but not a guaranteed drop.)
- Weapon Workbench: Used for crafting the Grappling Gun, it can be unlocked at Level 20 and crafted using 15x Ingot, 50x Wood, and 10x Nail.
How To Use The Grappling Gun
As I mentioned, you can use the Grappling Gun to traverse mountains and long roads in Palworld. You can press Alt-Fire to aim at a surface and then Fire to hook on and propel towards it. However, each time you successfully use the weapon, there’s a 12-second cooldown before you can use it again.
Therefore, the Grappling Gun won’t necessarily let you blitz through steep slopes, which is why I would recommend saving your resources for the improved variant, the Mega Grappling Gun.
That wraps up my brief guide on unlocking and using Palworld’s Grappling Gun. I hope the developers lower the weapon’s cooldown after each use because, as it stands, the hassle of getting the gun is not worth the payoff.
