Story Highlights
- Palworld has become an unequivocal global sensation, tearing up Steam charts at present.
- As per Pocketpair, the third-person shooter has sold more than 8 million copies to date.
- Over the course of its release, Palworld has also become the second most-played game on Steam.
Palworld’s virality is unhinged as the game continues to achieve sales milestones day in and day out. Yesterday, I reported that the game has sold a massive 7 million copies to date, but tell you what, there’s another glaring update on this front, one that adds one more million to the figure just like that. 8 million copies and counting at the time of writing, all in a span of less than one week.
#Palworld has sold over 8 million copies in less than 6 days!
Thank you very much!!

What’s more, is that Palworld is absolutely tearing up Steam charts as we speak, crossing the 2-million concurrent player mark in recent times, which automatically put it at the second all-time spot of games with the most concurrent players in history, trailing just behind PUBG now. For reference, the latter peaked at about 3 million users about six years ago, but if things keep going the way they are at present, Palworld is coming for the number-one spot all the same.
With this sheer level of success onboard, Pocketpair, the Japanese developer, appears highly motivated to keep pushing development on Palworld. It made a post on X lately, detailing a roadmap for the early-access state of the third-person shooter. Outside of addressing critical issues and ensuring a smooth playable experience for players, the dev has outlined a number of new features that it plans on introducing in future updates.
We would like to share with you our roadmap for Palworld. Sales have far exceeded the development team’s expectations, and we are currently experiencing many problems due to excessive access congestion, among other challenges. We will prioritize improving this issue first, and then move on to implementing new in-game features. Thank you for your understanding,” says Pocketpair.
As for the progress made so far, Palworld is about “60%” complete, and that’s according to Pocketpair. The current priority for the dev is figuring out how to add PvP to the survival-based shooter, which is then followed up by Raid boss fights, Steam-Xbox crossplay, new playable environments, and all the other stuff it’s spoken of recently. Sounds like a solid plan, given the implementation is kept up properly.

Palworld came out on January 19, 2024, for the Xbox Series X|S and PC, with no port for the PlayStation 5 right now. eXputer’s 4.5/5.0 review of the game praises its well-designed open world, challenging combat, overly amusing gameplay, and overall solid gameplay foundation that Pokemon fans have been hungry for as long as one can remember.
