  • Japanese celebrities have been told to not mention Palworld in public or online, according to an agency source.
  • To not jeopardize potential collaborations with Pokémon, agencies have prohibited their clients from mentioning the title.

According to a report from Tokyo Sports, talent agencies in Japan have told celebrities to not mention Palworld in public or on social media. As per a source in one of these agencies, talent has been prohibited from talking about the online survival title due to the Pokémon investigation against it pending. The talent agencies don’t want to lose any future collaborations with the Pokémon company, hence Palworld is off-limits.

We have told our talent not to mention Palworld on social media or in public. This was done out of consideration for the Pokémon side as an agency. This decision was made in consideration of future potential collaborations.”

Palworld launched on PC and Xbox Series consoles in early access last month and instantly became a massive success. The monster-taming action title sold a whopping eight million copies in its first six days of early access on Steam, selling a million units in the first eight hours. The Pocket Pair game peaked at 2 million concurrent players on Steam, causing server issues and becoming the first game since PUBG to accomplish this.

Since then, Palworld has shipped 12 million units on Steam in addition to attaining 7 million users on Xbox consoles. But, this success has come along with a lot of controversy for the online title. Users on X and other platforms started calling the game “Pokémon with guns,” and accused it of plagiarism. However, Pocket Pair’s CEO maintained that the concepts were original and that the game had cleared all legal reviews.
