Doom Eternal might be getting official mod support, as suggested by the title’s SteamDB update history. The Reddit user u/TheOnlyChemo spotted the recent changes mentioned in Doom Eternal’s update history that reference an executable titled DOOMModPortal.exe, which have made people wonder if id Software is going to add official mod support to the game.
Besides the executable, the change history also showed a few added descriptions that mentioned “Launch modPortal,” suggesting that the game is going to do something about mods in the near future. Note that Doom Eternal’s 4th anniversary is also coming on March 20, and it’s possible we might get to hear an announcement then.
Doom Eternal Already Has Tons Of Excellent Mods
Developed by id Software and published by Bethesda, Doom Eternal launched on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 20, 2020, and later on other platforms. Even without official mod support, Doom Eternal’s mods have been downloaded over a million times on NexusMods, a popular modding site.
