Story Highlights
- GTA 6 is unequivocally the biggest current video game release that’s scheduled for a 2025 release.
- With increasing concerns regarding game optimization for the Xbox Series S, fans express their worry.
- GTA 6 IP owner, however, has expressed his views about Series S optimization, saying he’s not bothered.
Now, here’s some show of confidence. With everybody else worried about GTA 6 not being able to run properly on the Xbox Series S, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has reason to believe otherwise. Speaking in Take-Two’s recent investors call and asking a question pertaining to the challenge associated with developing GTA for two differently-specced Xbox platforms, Strauss replied with the following.
Yeah. Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech. Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried.
I’ve never worried about where hardware was going. And I’ve said this many times over the years because, first of all, I don’t worry about things over which I have zero control. And secondly because I do believe in the audience. The audience is going to show up if you have great properties, and so we just have to make sure to be on an array of platforms.”
This definitely gives Series S owners a lot of breathing room, if anything else. Previously, both Remnant 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 devs have spoken up about the difficulty of developing a game for Microsoft’s alternate console, but it seems you won’t find Rockstar complaining about it.
Considering the level that this particular studio is on — being one of the most established developers in the business — I don’t suspect GTA 6 to suffer on any platform for that matter.
GTA 6 Is What The Entire Gaming World Is Waiting For Right Now
At the end of GTA 6’s first trailer, Rockstar seemingly confirmed that the game won’t be launching on PC at first. That port will presumably come after a while, and if the developer’s past history is anything to take into account, it’ll at least be a year or so until we see GTA 6 on PC. Hopefully, during that time, we’ll see many PC enthusiasts switching over to console gaming just for this game.
GTA 6 currently has no set release date but is expected to come out sometime in 2025. Fans fear a delay into 2026, but Strauss Zelnick has reaffirmed his confidence in the 2025 launch window on different occasions.
