Bloodborne fans are not the only ones wondering why Sony continues to leave the beloved action RPG locked to PlayStation 4. Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida apparently wants a PC release as well, and even he does not have an explanation for its absence.
Yoshida Does Not Know What Is Holding Bloodborne Back

As reported by Gamesradar, former Sony President Shuhei Yoshida stated that he doesn’t know why Sony hasn’t remastered Bloodborne for the PS5 or released a PC version, despite its massive global fanbase.
This game [Bloodborne] has a lot of fans all over the world, and it still doesn’t have a PS5 version,”
PlayStation’s first-party team is releasing a ton of remasters, so why don’t they release this one? There’s no PC release.
Yoshida described the situation surrounding Bloodborne as a “complete mystery”. Considering his lengthy history at PlayStation, that admission only makes Sony’s silence look more baffling.
“I am often asked why these (Bloodborne remaster or PC port) haven’t been released, but it’s a complete mystery. Maybe they’ll come out in the future. Maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll make a special edition. Maybe they won’t. As a huge fan, I hope it will come out.”
Yoshida previously served as president of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios before becoming the head of PlayStation Indies. Despite those senior positions, he says he does not know why Bloodborne has never received a remaster or PC version.
The former executive also expressed interest in seeing the game escape its existing platform restrictions. That does not amount to inside information or confirmation of a secret project, but it shows the demand extends beyond hopeful fans and speculative insiders.
Unfortunately, Yoshida’s comments provide no indication that Sony is preparing an announcement. He departed the company in January 2025, meaning his personal interest should not be interpreted as PlayStation’s current position.
Bloodborne Remains Trapped On PlayStation 4
Developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony, Bloodborne launched exclusively for PlayStation 4 in 2015. It is playable on PlayStation 5 through backward compatibility, but it has never received a native current-generation edition.
That leaves players with the original version’s 30 FPS cap and dated image quality. Meanwhile, several other former PlayStation exclusives—including God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon Zero Dawn—have made the jump to PC.
Bloodborne’s continued absence has produced years of remaster rumors, alleged leaks, and speculation. However, neither Sony nor FromSoftware has formally announced a port, remake, or remaster.
Fans Should Keep Expectations In Check

Yoshida’s comments will inevitably restart the conversation, but they do not change Bloodborne’s official status. There is currently no confirmed PC release or PS5 upgrade, regardless of how reasonable either project might appear.
Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, so the final decision ultimately rests with PlayStation. Until the company says otherwise, every release window, event prediction, and supposed leak deserves skepticism.
Still, when even one of PlayStation’s most recognizable former executives cannot explain the situation, fans are justified in asking the same question. Bloodborne on PC feels like an obvious move. For now, though, it remains exactly that, an obvious move Sony has yet to make.
