Take-Two’s 2025 Line-Up Is Looking Absolutely Wicked

And it's not GTA 6 to look forward to.

Story Highlights

  • Take-Two, the famed industry tycoon and owner of Rockstar Games and 2K, has a strong 2025 line-up.
  • Apart from GTA 6, which is inarguably its biggest highlight, an array of other titles are anticipated as well.
  • These include the newly announced Mafia: The Old Country, Borderlands 4, and Judas.

2025 is going to be loaded for gaming, with titles like the Fable reboot, Doom: The Dark Ages, and even Death Stranding 2 slated for release next year. However, many of the well-anticipated hits are seemingly coming out of one publisher only, and that’s Take-Two Interactive. Heck, the most intimidating game of them all is under this publisher’s control, no questions asked, and that’s GTA 6.

Outside of that one, an array of other noteworthy titles currently under development by Take-Two subsidiaries have come into the spotlight. Let’s take a closer look at these, their expected release windows, and other pertinent details ahead.

A Line-Up Complimented By What Could Be The Game Of The Decade

Although Take-Two’s Private Division label has a number of other titles to look forward to in terms of publishing, the following entries take precedence when it comes down to it. Reading through their names, I think you know why.

1. GTA 6

Rockstar’s rise to popularity is owed to the Grand Theft Auto franchise, and come next year, the NYC-based developer is about to remind everyone who’s the big boss around these parts. That is, of course, if everything goes according to plan, and GTA 6 does not end up delivering the biggest upset of all time. On a side note, the official GTA 6 trailer crossed 100 million views in a span of merely 2 days, with that figure now sitting at a whopping 200 million at the time of writing.

The release window provided is “fall 2025” for GTA 6, but fans are fearful about the game possibly being delayed. The CEO of Take-Two, however, has reassured people that he’s “confident” about this launch period, but I’d still recommend not holding your breath.

2. Borderlands  4

The Borderlands franchise is yet another one of Take-Two’s long-running IPs, and now, it’s clear that another mainline installment is coming, thanks to a teaser trailer dropping during Gamescom 2024. We don’t know when it’s exactly launching, but the release window stated on its official Steam page is 2025. Fans and followers of the series had been awaiting the reveal and confirmation for a while now, with rumors pertaining to the looter shooter going as far back as 2021.

The description going along with the title right now is pretty generic, with the devs saying,

In this next installment of the definitive looter shooter, players will assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they blast their way through hordes of enemies in search of new treasures to loot on an all-new planet.”

The biggest concern for Borderlands players at this moment in time is Borderlands 4’s storywriting. There’s a reason why I want this game to be a lot like Borderlands 2; Borderlands 3 is a dumpster dive as far as the plot is concerned. Even though its gunplay is great and it rolled over 18 million copies, the Borderlands franchise is already at a low point right now, considering that the movie bombed hard, so it’s really a make-or-break situation.

3. Judas

Judas

Although Ghost Story Games — the new Ken Levine co-founded developer studio — is self-publishing Judas, it still technically falls under the domain of Take-Two Interactive, with the latter being the former’s owner. Judas has a lot of eyes set on it, and I can confidently say that it’s one of 2025’s most anticipated games. Ken won’t be following up on the BioShock IP, so we’re getting this instead.

As for Judas, it’s been said about the shooter that it’ll let you affect its story in ways you haven’t experienced before. Speaking to PS Blog, Ken said,

With Judas, we wanted to craft an experience where these decisions and how the story unfolds is up to you. Because you, as Judas, are the driver of every event in a story with a new cast of characters to get to know — and change — in ways you haven’t experienced before in our games.”

4. Mafia: The Old Country

God knows how long I’ve been waiting for this particular announcement. The legendary Mafia series is back from the dead (no, I’m not counting the Definitive Editions), and the recent Gamescom event has produced a teaser trailer for the newest installment in the franchise—Mafia: The Old Country. As per the title’s official website, it’s coming in 2025.

The original Mafia games — especially the first two — remain exceptionally relevant even to this day, and for those who want to get involved in the franchise, I recommend the first Mafia’s Definitive Edition. At the time of writing, it’s on sale as well, setting you back only $6. The promotion will last until September 2.

Uncover the origins of organized crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”
