Story Highlights
- Video games in the day and age we live in today come in various types of play lengths.
- Some games offer tedious, long gameplay, but others, often genuinely praiseworthy replayability.
- Games such as Ghost of Tsushima and Cyberpunk 2077 are two such gems that won’t burn you out.
Forget about linear experiences that end within the 10-20-hour time frame, I’m all about purchasing a game that will keep me hooked forever. Just kidding. Frugality aside, I consider it outright convenient to spend time on a particular game that has all of my attention invested. That way, I won’t have to switch back and forth, trying to find that one title that will keep me occupied on a good holiday.
Over the course of the past years or so, I’ve found myself turning back to the forthcoming games more than others, and so should you if you decide to give them a go. Some of them happen to be dirt-cheap on specific platforms, and others are on sale as well; seems like a good time to add a bunch of top-tier games with great replayability to your catalog.
Buy These 6 Games And Forget About Everything Else You Play
It bears mentioning here that the games I’ve talked about below reflect my personal opinion only, and aren’t definitive picks that will appeal to each and every one of you out there. However, feel free to add to the collection down in the comments section ahead. We’ll pick up a discussion right there and then.
1. Ghost Of Tsushima
- Genre: Action-Adventure, Open-World
- Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
- Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
Creators of the fantastic Infamous franchise, Sucker Punch Productions bestowed upon the gaming world a gift back in 2020, releasing one of the best games ever made in my humble opinion in the name of Ghost of Tsushima.
You honestly don’t get tired of a title as brilliantly made as this, especially when you consider its vibrant open world, top-end combat, and scintillating art direction, not to mention the absolutely phenomenal storyline that’s well-executed.
Now that Ghost of Tsushima is headed to PC as well on May 16, 2024, a whole new audience is going to be able to sit down and unravel the masterpiece that this game is. I sure as heck hope you’re one of the new players as well if you’re a PC player.
2. Fallout 3
- Genre: First-Person Shooter, Free-Roam, Action
- Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC
- Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Although fairly dated by today’s standards, I do not have to push myself to play Fallout 3 any day of the week, specifically because of how this Bethesda masterpiece manages to hold its own phenomenally, even in 2024. Fallout 3 has insane mod potential if you’re on PC, and you’re probably going to need them — found on Nexus Mods — to beef up your experience better than before.
It’s set in a post-apocalyptic world, features RPG elements, boasts fantastic writing, and also comprises a live world with smart NPCs that are as far away from monotony as it gets. The narrative action of the shooter is in point as well, and if there’s any game on this list that sparks nostalgia with a touch of class, it’s Fallout 3.
3. Elden Ring
- Genre: Action-Adventure, Soulslike,
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
- Developer: FromSoftware
Now before I go on about how this is one of the greatest, if not the greatest altogether, games ever made, it’s worth noting that a lot of you might not find Elden Ring too replayable despite the Soulslike featuring a wealth of content. Given how hard the title usually is, there’s a learning curve that each player has to go through first –series veterans included — but once you get that wheel spinning, it’s difficult to put the controller down.
Being 2022’s esteemed Game of the Year winner, Elden Ring brings to the table what no other FromSoftware game has done before, which is the same hellish Souls formula intertwined in a bustling open world. A vast variety of different builds, an even better diversity of weapons, and an array of bosses stretched across The Lands Between make this RPG extremely rich in terms of replay value.
4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Genre: Action-Adventure, Role-Playing, Free-Roam
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch
- Developer: CDPR
The Witcher 3 is one of the best RPGs in the business, and a true value hog if you intend on pouring hundreds of hours into a brilliantly designed open-world action-adventure with heaps of content to immerse yourself into. The developer CD Projekt Red treated players to a free next-gen update for the game back in December 2022, improving upon an already terrific effort and making The Witcher 3 all the more worth picking up.
5. RimWorld
- Genre: Colony Simulator
- Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
- Developer: Ludeon Studios
The sky is the limit with RimWorld in question, a game that’s unanimously considered to be the ultimate value-for-money title in the business right now. At its core, RimWorld is a colony management sim that literally allows players to enjoy it on auto-pilot, meaning that there’s no definite pattern to follow along, nor is there anything pre-determined as to your story.
It’s just you, your imagination, and the limitless game design of RimWorld where you can be anyone you want, and do anything you want, whether that’s building a huge research lab and making drives in newfound innovation, or an evil overload hell-bent on conquering anything and everything. You decide.
7. Cyberpunk 2077
- Genre: First-Person Shooter, RPG, Free-Roam
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
- Developer: CD Projekt Red
No one is a stranger to the way Cyberpunk 2077 kicked its life off back in December 2020, launching to utter failure as CD Projekt Red failed to tune and optimize the RPG to the required extent. However, all that was quite far back, and now, the RPG before us has been brought back from the depths of hell, with CDPR doing everything in its power to restore the vision it had for the game back when it was looking to release the FPS.
In 2024, Cyberpunk 2077, along with the Phantom Liberty expansion, is a superb purchase. The RPG’s loaded with content, and sport incredibly fun gameplay itself that has you exploring the ins and outs of Night City without taking a break.
