The roughly estimated playable area size of AC Mirage is around 13km2, with the total map size (including the non-playable areas) being around 45km2.
You will spend most of the time in the City of Baghdad, where a majority of the main game campaign takes place. The size of Baghdad on the map itself comes to around 2.3km2, with numerous side activities and features being the center stage there, such as the Favors, along with any kind of collectible such as the Dervis’ Artifacts, Mysterious Shards, and Lost Books.
Furthermore, there are also two ‘Wilderness’ associated regions toward the bottom and upper sides of the map, as shown in the image above, but you will mostly be venturing across them for a couple of Story missions or to complete the points of interest for 100% completion.
- The overall map size of AC Mirage is around 45km2, combined with the City of Baghdad and its smaller rural areas.
- Aside from a few rare occasions, most of AC Mirage’s main story events occur in Baghdad.
- Compared to previous Assassin’s Creed games, Mirage’s map size is small and linear, almost similar to classic titles such as Assassin’s Creed 2.
- Meanwhile, the map sizes of AC Odyssey and Valhalla were drastically huge compared to Mirage, as they were obviously Open-World RPG titles.
Overview Of AC Mirage Map Size & Comparison
Below is a comparison of AC Mirage’s Baghdad alongside a few other Assassin’s Creed maps:
Assassin's Creed Mirage | Assassin's Creed Valhalla | Assassin's Creed Odyssey | Assassin's Creed Origins | Assassin's Creed Brotherhood |
---|---|---|---|---|
Baghdad 2.3km | Asgard: 1.55km | Athens: 1.01km (City outlining) | Egypt: 80km (Landmass only) | Rome: 1.41km |
Map Comparison To Previous Games
While I certainly enjoyed sailing the Caribbean Seas in AC4 Black Flag as a kid and roaming the magnificent lands of Greece in Odyssey a couple of years earlier, learning about just how big the map of AC Mirage is compared to previously released Assassin’s Creed titles is an imperative question of the moment.
- AC Odyssey, being the previous game I played for 100+ hours, the landmass areas (Islands) range around a large distance of 130km2.
- Mirage’s overall map size (45km2) is almost around a quarter of the size of Odyssey’s, with the difference being that Odyssey’s majority map is Sea-based with tons of Islands.
- Baghdad (2.3km2) is almost around the same calculated size as AC Unity’s Paris (2.3km2).
Assassin’s Creed Mirage was designed to be a fairly linear game, being close in size to classic titles such as the Ezio Trilogy and Bloodlines, so there is no surprise at the Map Size being self-contained this time around when compared to the previously released titles which of course, were intended to be large Open-world RPGs.
This concludes my guide to the AC Mirage map size and comparison. If you ask me (Steam ID: LIONT4MER), the map size is perfect since it feels like a breath of fresh air for those players who got burnt out from experiencing the RPG Trilogy titles before Mirage’s release, myself included.
