Efrin is a non-player character (NPC) in Baldur’s Gate 3. Efrin was a dwarf traveling with his family when Ethel attacked them. Ethel petrified Efrin and infected him with Laduger’s Bite, a fatal disease. Efrin’s family was forced to leave him behind, and he has been trapped in the Overgrown Tunnel ever since. Efrin’s role is to provide players with a moral dilemma in BG3.
- Efrin is an NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3, petrified by Ethel and infected with Laduger’s Bite.
- Find Efrin in the Overgrown Tunnel by going east from the Blighted Village.
- Two ways to save Efrin:
- Kill Auntie Ethel to lift the curse.
- Use Basilisk Oil to ‘unpetrify’ Efrin.
- Auntie Ethel is a powerful hag in the Sunlit Wetlands; you meet her at the Riverside Teahouse.
- Efrin has average dwarf stats, which are not crucial for combat, and has a passive feature that attacks enemies moving out of his reach.
- Loot from Efrin includes 3 gold coins, scale mail, a great axe, and a bottle.
- Efrin can be a companion, provide information, or be a source of loot.
- Players can choose to leave Efrin petrified for a more merciful end, preventing him from suffering from Laduger’s Bite.
Where To Find Efrin In Baldur’s Gate 3?
Efrin can be found in the Overgrown Tunnel, a location in the Underdark. He is located in the gallery, just past the room with the basilisk. To reach the Overgrown Tunnel, you will need to travel to the Blighted Village and then follow the path to the east. Here are my steps on how to find Efrin:- Travel to the Blighted Village.
- Follow the path to the east.
- Enter the Overgrown Tunnel.
- Follow the path until you reach the gallery.
- Efrin will be standing in the gallery, petrified.
If you have Basilisk Oil, you can use it to dispel petrification from Efrin. However, this will not cure him of Laduger’s Bite. If you do not have Basilisk Oil, you can still interact with Efrin. He will tell you his story; you can leave him petrified or kill Auntie Ethel. The outcome of your interaction with Efrin will depend on your choices.
How To Dispel Petrification From Efrin In BG3?
The following are the two ways I was able dispel Petrification from Efrin In Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Kill Auntie Ethel
- Throw Basilisk Oil on Efrin
How To Find And Kill Auntie Ethel
The path I explored for this venture is described below:
The first way is to kill Auntie Ethel. When Ethel dies, all her curses, including the one that petrified Efrin, are lifted. Efrin will then turn back to normal and be able to leave the Overgrown Tunnel.
Auntie Ethel is in her lair in the Overgrown Tunnel in the Sunlit Wetlands region of Baldur’s Gate 3. To get to her lair, you must follow the quest line that begins with meeting her at the Riverside Teahouse. Once you have agreed to help her remove your tadpole parasite, she will lead you to her lair.
Once you reach her lair, you must fight your way through her minions to reach her. Auntie Ethel is a powerful hag, so you must be prepared for a tough battle. If you defeat her, you can make Efrin unpetrified and claim her treasure.Throw Basilisk Oil On Efrin
The second way to remove petrification is to use Basilisk Oil. Basilisk Oil is a rare item that can be found in the Overgrown Tunnel. If you throw Basilisk Oil on Efrin, he will be unpetrified. However, this will not cure him of Laduger’s Bite. Efrin will still die from the disease, but he will at least be able to die in his own home.
Here are the steps on how to make Efrin unpetrified using Basilisk Oil in BG3:- Find Efrin in the Overgrown Tunnel. He is in the gallery, just past the room with the basilisk.
- Loot the Basilisk Oil from one of the chests in the gallery.
- Throw the Basilisk Oil on Efrin. He will be unpetrified.
- Efrin will thank you for saving him, but he will still die from Laduger’s Bite.
Alternatively, players can choose to leave Efrin petrified. This is a more merciful option, as it will prevent Efrin from suffering from the pain of Laduger’s Bite. However, it will also mean that Efrin will never be able to see his family again.
Efrin’s story is a reminder of the dangers of the Underdark. Ethel is a powerful hag who is capable of great cruelty. It is essential to be careful when exploring the Underdark and prepare for anything.
Efrin Stats in BG3
Efrin is a minor NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3, so he has no combat stats. However, he does have the following non-combat stats, as I have mentioned below:- Strength: 14
- Dexterity: 12
- Constitution: 12
- Intelligence: 10
- Wisdom: 10
- Charisma: 10
These stats are average for a dwarf. Efrin is not a particularly strong or agile dwarf but also not weak or clumsy. He is of average intelligence and wisdom and has a neutral personality.
Efrin’s stats are not crucial for combat, but they can be helpful for roleplaying. If you manage to ‘unpetrify’ Efrin, you can use his stats to help you roleplay his character. For instance, you could make him a companion or a wise mentor. The possibilities are endless!
Passive Feature
Efrin automatically attacks an enemy that moves out of his reach in BG3. This can be a helpful feature for keeping enemies at bay or punishing enemies trying to flee from battle.
This is a common feature for melee characters. It allows the character to attack an enemy that moves out of their reach. This can be a helpful way to punish enemies that try to flee from battle or to keep enemies at bay.
Efrin Loot
The loot from Efrin in Baldur’s Gate 3 is relatively small, but it can be helpful for early-game players. Here is a list of the loot that you can find on Efrin:
- 3 gold coins
- Scale mail
- Greataxe
- Bottle
Overall, the loot from Efrin is not the most exciting, but it can be helpful for early-game players. The scale mail and great axe are both valuable items, and the bottle can store potions or other liquids. If you are looking for extra loot, checking Efrin’s body after you rescue him is worth checking.
How Can Efrin Be Of Use in BG3?
In Baldur’s Gate 3, Efrin can be of great assistance in several ways. You can make him your companion or he can provide you with lots of information.
As A Companion
He will be a helpful addition if you decide to spare Efrin’s life and recruit him to your party. He is a kind and gentle soul who can help you with quests, provide information, or offer companionship. However, he is not very powerful in combat, so you should bring other companions with you who are better at fighting.
Source Of Information
Efrin can provide information about the Sunlit Wetlands and the Overgrown Tunnel. He can also tell you about Auntie Ethel and her lair. This information can be helpful if you are trying to complete quests or explore the area. For example, if you are trying to find the Tears of Selune, Efrin can tell you where they are located.
Source Of Loot
Efrin has some loot on his body, including three gold coins, scale mail, a great axe, and a bottle. This loot can be helpful for early-game players.
You must be aware of everything about Efrin now. It is entirely up to the player to choose whether to remove petrification from Efrin or leave him to his fate. But the advantages of dispelling petrification from Efrin are more. You can use him for many good reasons, such as making him a companion or a source of information. He can also fight a little bit.
