At first, you’ll find the Dying Light 2 Hoverboard as nothing more than an easter egg spread out all across the vast city of Villedor. You can only do as much as grab it and add it into your inventory. It will make the item get added to your “Collectibles” section within Aiden’s inventory.

However, if you try equipping it, your effort will be unfortunately cut short. You cannot equip the hoverboard in Dying Light 2, except for when you’re playing a specific parkour challenge. Speaking of which, this exceedingly fun side mission—upon unlocking—lets you ride a hoverboard on water and skilfully traverse Adam’s ale.

The mission objective is to get through particular checkpoints and complete the challenge within 1 minute and 10 seconds to get the “Gold” medal. Doing so will reward you with a total of 1032 “Agility” points, which is one of the most important facets of Aiden’s skillset.

The “Silver” medal of the Parkour challenge is won by completing the objective within 1 minute and 30 seconds. Your fruit will come in the form of 516 “Agility” points. Lastly, if you happen to complete “Hoverboard,” which is the name of the side mission, you’ll get a “Bronze” medal and subsequently 258 “Agility” points.

There are a total of 23 checkpoints of the challenge that you have to get past for successful completion. Even though it’s based on water, the whole venue comprises a comprehensive variety of obstacles to maneuver and avoid running into. The challenge isn’t too difficult to complete, especially for seasoned players who live and breathe Dying Light 2.

How to Unlock Hoverboard Parkour Challenge

The process of unlocking the Dying Light 2 Hoverboard parkour challenge is a little bit involved, but you’ll gradually get there given the help of some easy-to-follow instructions. Lucky for you, this is what this handy guide is all about.

We’re going to break down this relatively lengthy tutorial into multiple sections, so you can find it easier to get to the hoverboard in this thriller FPS.

Activating the Hoverboard Parkour Challenge

The whole scenario is kicked off in a particular area called “Saint Paul Island” on the Dying Light 2 map. The first step is critical to unlocking this nifty perk as you won’t be able to find any spread-out hoverboards in the game without going through it.

Here’s what the section looks like from a bird’s eye view of the whole city. As you can comprehend, Saint Paul Island is in the top-right area of the bottom yet bigger half of the map.

Let’s zoom in a little and make the area more precise so that you can understand the location better. There is a sizable church in this central part of the map of the main city. You’re going to want to climb to the top of this church to activate the “Hoverboard” Parkour challenge essentially.

In addition, this is the sight for a Military Airdrop to occur as well, so you’re genuinely killing two birds with one stone here. A quick tip: Discovering and accessing all of the Airdrops present in Dying Light 2 earns you an achievement called “Find Anything Interesting Yet?”

Kicking off the unlocking process of the Hoverboard challenge is a power line that needs to be in place within the church. To make sure you get started in the right direction, take a look at the following screenshot. This is where you need to be, which is actually the very base of the church, to commence the procedure.

Starting Location to Unlock the Parkour Challenge

The first step is to collect the cable from the terminal, as shown in the image above, and then jump on top of it. You will be basically carrying this cable all the way up to another terminal to form a connection. Don’t worry, though, as your parkour and combat skills won’t be inhibited in any way in the wake of grabbing the cord.

After jumping on top of the terminal, it will be possible for you to see a pole to hang on to and swing from. Once done, position yourself to the climbable ledges and continue going upward. A good piece of advice here is to look out for a yellow-colored cloth hanging out from certain ledges. These always indicate the correct way to go and where you can pause to jump in other directions.

That is to say, as soon as you reach the ledge that has a yellow cloth coming out of it, look to your right and find a giant opening. Jump toward this space and allow yourself to get outside to the roof of the church. However, your ascend is far from over for now. You will now have to keep up the climb with the help of the railings placed on the right side of the sizable opening.

Keep going for the most plausible method of going up. Once you’ve reached an appropriate, take a few steps further and find an area with a large bell in the middle. This is probably what the church uses or used, for that matter, to alarm the believers. Here, you will find a terminal to connect your cable to. Interact it with as shown in the screenshot below to get to the next step.

Once you’ve done the above, take a step backward and go to the opening that’s placed exactly on the opposite side of the terminal. Once you’re out there, take a left turn and find a bunch of gold-colored ledges to grab on to. Jump on the highest ledge there is, and then look to your back. You’ll find a pole yet again to hang on to and swing from. Make the jump, and swing Aiden to the reachable platform in front of your to get to the next step.

It’ll seem as if the jump will be impossible to complete, but you’re not aware of Aiden’s superhuman powers yet. You have got to time it right for the best results. You’ll be able to grab the ledge without breaking a sweat that way.

After climbing up to the aforementioned surface, your next task is to walk around the ledges protruding right from the wall. Once done, you will find an opening to your right. Enter the area to find a radio inside. The job now is to listen to what the voice on the radio says. Of course, you will have to interact with the item to continue.

That’s about it for the first part of the Dying Light 2 Hoverboard and how to unlock the associated parkour challenge. You will now be able to collect the different hoverboards scattered across the city. Let’s get on to the second major step pronto.

Collecting the Hoverboards

The first collectible hoverboard will be present right in the same room as you are where you listen to the radio. Simply look to the area on the left, and you’ll find the item situated up against the wall.

Collecting the First Hoverboard

However, collecting the first hoverboard is only half the work done. As soon you grab the collectible, you’ll find it disappearing in a flash (literally). This is where your Survivor Sense will step in—a specialized ability that allows Aiden to project a sonar and examine his surroundings more meticulously. This aptness has made a return in Dying Light 2 as it was a major constituent of the original Dying Light as well.

Coming back to the topic at hand, as soon as you use the Survivor Sense after collecting the first hoverboard, you’ll find footsteps tainted in red or blood. You can decide which one you would rather have. The mission now is to follow in these footsteps carefully while spamming your Survivor Sense ability. The following is a brief illustration of how this in-game element appears. Do note that the footsteps will only surface when you use the Survivor Sense.

You’ll have to drop down all the way to ground-level from the church and go through multiple streets from here on out. It’s best to avoid engagement with zombies or any other type of enemy at this point. Keep following the footsteps at full speed while ensuring that you’re doing it right. You should be arriving at the location specified by the map below upon successfully keeping pace with the provided directions.

You’re going to end up at the bridge area in the Muddy Grounds part of the map. The hoverboard will be tilted up against the railing, waiting for you to grab it right away.

You’re almost at the end but still not quite there yet. You again have to use your Survivor Sense and follow the red-colored footsteps until the very end. This time, you’ll mostly have to run straight and prevent yourself from engaging any enemy. You’ll find the final Dying Light 2 hoverboard inside a car’s trunk.

This area will also comprise a host of human enemies. Take no notice of them and continue popping open the trunk. You’ll find the final hoverboard right inside. Interact with it, and you’ll be good to go.

Start the Parkour Challenge

This is the third and final step that concerns the Dying Light 2 hoverboard. After interacting with the last hoverboard inside the car’s trunk, you’ll be prompted with the following on your screen.

Hoverboard Parkour Challenge

That’s right. You’ve finally unlocked the “Hoverboard” parkour challenge. Notice how its description says, “Those boards don’t work on water … unless you’ve got the power!” If you look back on the first step of this guide, we had to connect the cable of the terminal at the bottom of the church to the one on the top. That supplied this whole scene with enough “power” to make the hoverboards attainable, ultimately leading you to this point.

To finally get into the hoverboard, start the parkour challenge. You’ll find the activity quite enjoyable, given the different types of controls and the ability of the hoverboard to work on both land and water.

That’s about it for this tutorial! We genuinely hope that you’ve found this write-up useful for your cause.

Dying Light 2 Hoverboard Exploit

As of February 19, 2022, there’s a certain Dying Light 2 hoverboard exploit that seems to allow players to use the item off-challenge. You cannot use the hoverboard except for the parkour challenge that you’ve just learned how to unlock. This may seem like a bummer for many, but it appears that there is a particular hack-making round online that lets you keep the hoverboard in your inventory.

All you have to do is simply remove all your equipped accessories and weapons before starting the challenge. As soon as you’re done and within the “Hoverboard” challenge, enter the pause menu and quit the game. Once you get back into it, you’ll see that the hoverboard will be present in Aiden’s inventory and fully ridable as well.

We cannot say exactly for how long this exploit will work, considering that it might have fallen under Techland’s notice by now. However, we can confirm that the trick works at the time of writing, so dive right in while you can.
