The Uchigatana, From software’s another signature weapon, is hands down one of the best katanas you can find early on in Elden ring. It is incredibly agile with deadly precision, Has the most samurai-looking move-set while making no compromise on the damage dealt. Since It scales so well with the dexterity stat, it is safe to say that the developers created it explicitly for players with dexterity build as their main character attribute. Therefore, in our “Elden ring Uchigatana location” guide, we’ll show you the best way to obtain the Uchigatana.
Key Highlights:
- The Uchigatana is one of the recurring and fan-favorite katana in From Software games.
- The Uchigatana is located in the optional dungeon named Deathtouched Catacombs in the Limgrave region.
- The catacombs consist of a bunch of respawning skeletons and an optional mini-boss. The skeletons are easy enough to deal with as long as you don’t get overwhelmed by their numbers.
- In the initial part of the catacombs, players will come across a locked door that can be unlocked with a lever. We’d recommend exploring the catacombs to find the lever.
- This lever also unlocks a corridor hidden in the wall opposite the boss room stairs, make your way to the wall and keep going through the corridor until you spot a hole in the wall to the left.
- Proceed through the hole and you will spot the Uchigatana, alongside an archer skeleton.
- The stat requirements for the Uchigatana are 11 Strength and 15 Dexterity.

The exact location to find Uchigatana is an optional dungeon named Deathtouched catacombs located in the Limgrave region. In order to reach the Deathtouched catacomb, you first need to get to the Saints bridge site of grace (you can fast travel here if you’ve already visited it).

The challenges of the Deathtouched catacomb contain a bunch of respawning skeleton warriors and a mini-boss (Black Knife Assassin). The skeletons, you do not have to worry much about as they’re relatively easy to deal with, that is, as long as they don’t decide to gang bang you. Also, read our Elden Ring Bosses Tier List and learn about the easiest early-game bosses in the game.
As for the mini-boss, well, he is optional, so you don’t really need to beat him in order to get the Uchigatana. But he does drop Assassin’s crimson dagger, which is pretty good, so beating him is worth it.

Now that you know what dangers lurk in the Death-touched dungeon, you are better prepared for navigating it and finally getting the legendary Uchigatana. The dungeon can seem a bit claustrophobic at first, but in reality, it is pretty small and straightforward.
Upon entering the dungeon, you will find another site of grace. We highly recommend resting here so in case something goes south, you don’t have to travel from all the way back here. Upon heading down the stairs from the rested site of grace, you will encounter a locked door; behind this door is the Uchigatana and the mini-boss.

To unlock the door, you need to activate a lever. Make your way down the left staircase, keep going straight till you enter a room with the lever in it guarded by a bunch of skeleton archers. You can take them on or just run past them; either way, they will not be a problem. Interact with lever and backtrack the way you came. The lever unlocks a corridor hidden in the wall opposite the boss room stairs.
Make your way to the mentioned wall and head inside the corridor. Keep going straight through the corridor until you see another hole in the wall to the left. Proceed through the hole to the left to enter a large room with another archer skeleton and the Uchigatana stuck in a hanging dead body over the edge. Takedown the archer skeleton and FINALLY loot the Uchigatana from the dead body.

Uchigatana’s default Ash of War is so powerful that you can dual wield it and use it till the end game. However, since there are so many Ashes of War on Elden Ring, you might want to try a few with this katana in the game.
To achieve the maximum doable damage for Uchigatana in Elden ring, it only makes sense that you pair it with Ashes Of War best suited for it. You can use the following ashes of war in order to get the most out of the Uchigatana:
- Keen Ash Of War
- Unsheathe Mighty Shot
- Enchanted Shot
If you combine the above-mentioned ashes of war, level up the Uchigatana to the max, use the proper armor set and a well-suited talisman, then you will be a walking killing machine giving anime vibes in no time.

Uchigatana Katana Tips
The Uchigatana in Elden ring is one of the best weapons to get overpowered early on in the game as it can deal crazy amounts of damage at very high speeds. And as if that already wasn’t enough, it also has a passive bleeding effect meaning some bosses are going to bleed, literally and metaphorically.
However, as we are writing the Uchigatana Location guide, it is our responsibility to inform you that Uchigatana is no doubt one of the best katanas, but it might just not be your type. So you might want to test it before spending your smithing stones because the last thing you want is to visit Blacksmith and waste your smithing stones in upgrading a weapon that’s just not your type.
