Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Ending [Explained]

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom ending has been revealed now that the game is accessible on Nintendo Switch. As players immerse themselves in the updated Hyrule and its Sky Islands, they can expect to spend countless hours before reaching the finale, where they confront the adversary endangering the continent and its people.

Promotional materials like trailers have confirmed Ganondorf as the main antagonist of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, so players are anticipating a showdown with the Gerudo. Similar to other titles in the series, Tears of the Kingdom’s ending has several unexpected plot twists that add excitement to the storyline and provide players with an enjoyable and action-packed conclusion.

Here is what happens:

1. Final Showdown with Ganondorf: Link, armed with the restored Master Sword, engages in an epic battle with Ganondorf, the main antagonist of the game. Despite defeating Ganondorf in his humanoid form, he transforms into the formidable Demon Dragon, posing an even greater threat.

   

2. Zelda’s Transformation and Assistance: Zelda, having witnessed Hyrule’s struggle against Ganondorf in the past, willingly undergoes a spell to transform into a dragon to aid Link in the battle. Together, they face off against the Demon Dragon Ganondorf, with Zelda providing crucial assistance to defeat the enemy.

   

3. Defeating Ganondorf: Link, with the help of Zelda, successfully destroys all the Eyes of Malice on the Demon Dragon’s body and strikes the Secret Stone on its head, ultimately leading to Ganondorf’s defeat. Hyrule is saved from the threat of the Demon King.
4. Restoration of Zelda: After the battle, Zelda’s dragon form weakens, and Link uses the power granted by Rauru to heal her. Spiritual projections of Rauru and Hylia appear to assist Link, causing Zelda’s body to disappear and reverting her back to her original Hylian form.

   

5. Revelations and Resolution: With Zelda restored, Link’s right arm also returns to its previous state, indicating a preconceived plan by the divine forces. As the founders of the kingdom, Rauru and Hylia, gradually vanish, Link wakes up mid-fall and rushes to save Zelda, who fell unconscious during the battle.

   

6. Conclusion and Reflection: Zelda regains consciousness, and both she and Link find themselves safe by the lake. Zelda reflects on her journey into the past, her transformation into a dragon, and the experiences she wishes to share with Link. Once players complete Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, they are allowed to continue exploring the open world, but with a save point, before facing Ganondorf, the Demon King. The saved game is marked with a star, indicating the completion of the campaign, despite it placing players back to moments before the final battle.

Tears of the Kingdom’s ending raises some questions regarding whether Link has truly broken Ganondorf’s cycle of reincarnation. If Link was successful in ending the cycle, then this could be the last game in this specific version of the franchise’s storyline.
