Baldur’s Gate 3’s Hotfix #9 Lets Players Change Their Name Via Magic Mirror

The update also allows the player to alter the appearance of hirelings.

Larian Studios has released hotfix #9 for Baldur’s Gate 3. The new update allows players to change their character’s name and alter the appearance of hirlings using the Magic Mirror. The update, however small, fixes several bugs, issues, and crashes. Note that the update comes shortly after hotfix #8 which was released a few days ago.

Patch 3, which was rolled out a few weeks ago, added Magic Mirror to the player’s camp. The mystical item can permanently change the appearance of your character. There are a few things that can’t be changed via the Mirror, such as race and subrace, as well as body type. Additionally, origin characters are unable to use the Magic Mirror. Initially, hirelings also couldn’t change their appearance, but hotfix #9 has removed that restriction.

The hotfix #9 brings several bug fixes as well as crashes. A bug with the Guardian Statue repeatedly falling into a chasm and causing issues with the game server was also fixed. The update also fixed animation and character positions that went out of order if the player chose to skip the dialogues too fast. A bug with Vulkan that surfaced after the hotfix #8 update was also fixed.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was released on August 25, 2023, on PC and PlayStation 5. The game was also recently made available on MacOS with patch 3. Last month, Baldur’s Gate 3 surpassed Starfield as one of the most-played games on Steam Deck
