Story Highlights

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 physical Xbox version has been confirmed by the studio to come with 4 discs.
  • The game’s director of publishing said that the devs were only over the limit of 3 discs by 500 MB.
  • The studio chose 4 discs because it did not want to cut any of the content from the physical version.

The Baldur’s Gate 3 director of publishing, Michael Douse, has recently taken to Twitter to confirm that the Xbox retail version of the RPG will come with 4 discs. The dev clarified that it was a hard decision to make since the team was barely over the limit of 3 discs by 500 MB. However, the studio did not want to compromise by cutting content from the physical version. Therefore, the fans have commemorated the final choice of the studio.

In contrast, the PlayStation 5 version requires only two discs since it uses a different version of Blu-ray discs to achieve a better download size per disc. Michael also mentions that the first batch of Baldur’s Gate 3 physical Xbox copies will roll out from the first week of April instead of March 25 because of the recent change.

It has sold over a whopping 10 million copies worldwide since coming out, with mod support confirmed to be a major upcoming feature in the future. The initial player reception has also held up, as it averages around 645,000 players daily on Steam.
