The Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series is very famous in the realm of anime games. Based on the popular Naruto manga and anime series, it is a series of fighting games with the plot of the manga and various characters from it being playable.

The Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series quickly became popular upon release and spawned quite a few sequels. The last game was Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 released way back in 2016. Ever since, fans have been clamoring for a new game in the series as Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 was well-received.

Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 have not provided any official information regarding the next game but now we may have a name and a possible confirmation that there indeed will be another game in the series, as Bandai Namco recently filed a trademark for “Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS.”

Major Takeaways:

  • Bandai Namco has filed a trademark for the next game in the Ultimate Ninja Storm series.
  • The trademark is for a title called “Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS.”
  • As of yet, there has been no official confirmation from Bandai Namco’s side.

The last game in the hot fighting game series by CyberConnect2 was 2016’s Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 which was very well-received by the fanbase, but ever since, both Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 have been silent about the next game in the series, not even confirming IF there would be another new game in the series.

There have been rumors floating about the next game being in development for some time. This was first hinted at by YouTuber Senju In Japan. Senju is a reputed industry insider and had previously leaked DLC for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles, another anime fighting game by CyberConnect2.

It should be noticed that Senju uses the name Ultimate Ninja Storm 5 since they were not aware of the name of the next game and pointed out that since the Boruto series had begun, the next game could even be named after Boruto. Senju stated that the game has been in development for about a year.

Given that about 7 months have passed since Senju reported on this, it is possible that the game may not be much far off, from an official announcement at least even if the game does not release for some time.

The trademark, which is filed with the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is for Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections, which suggests a slight name change for the series that does not deviate too much from the rest of the series. The trademark was filed just recently on the 14th of November, 2022, and is currently awaiting approval.

It should also be noticed that the trademark could also be for anything but a video game since it was filed for a variety of products other than video games, as it is classified under categories 9 and 41, the goods and services for which entail the following:

As can be seen, the trademark is for various categories other than video games. It could be an arcade game as well, but we can not know with certainty until either Bandai Namco or CyberConnect2 gives official confirmation.

Senju stated in their video that Bandai Namco is considering a possible reveal by the end of 2022, so we may not have to wait for much longer.
