Story Highlights
- Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is an action RPG scheduled for release in the middle of next month.
- The game proposes an interesting narrative direction that puts the two protagonists in conflict.
- A new trailer released for the game emphasizes that aspect and teases the narrative focus of Banishers.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is something that I’m closely looking forward to, especially since it falls within the domain of role-playing games—a personal favorite. From what we’ve seen up until now, it appears that the title is unique in this aspect that it puts heavy emphasis on the narrative direction that the devs have attempted to pursue with Banishers, and a new trailer furthers that notion even more.
Premise Of Banishers: Ghosts Of New Eden Explained
So, here’s the gist of the matter in question—both Red and Antea — the two protagonists of the game who happen to be lovers too — are Banishers, who have sworn an oath to “banish” the dead from the land of the living. Things get convoluted and perplexed when Antea falls prey to an anomaly and dies, thereby becoming a ghost as well who has to be dealt with as per the oath sworn by the Banishers.
That, of course, isn’t happening anytime soon, because Red happens to love Antea, so it’s now either rescuing the love of his life or honoring his end of the Banisher agreement. As one can comprehend, the plotline appears to be highly enticing, and something that will certainly grip players in as they come up with how to mitigate the complication at hand.

For those not in the know, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was supposed to come out in November last year, but its release was objectively delayed due to that month — and the neighboring dates — being already loaded with top-tier titles. The developer saw it fit to push the RPG’s release ahead to a more suitable timing, all things considered.
The title now has a release date of February 13, 2024—right before Valentine’s Day, which is a fitting occasion for this one to drop—for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s been said that the title’s combat draws inspiration from the 2018-released God of War reboot, so there’s a lot to expect down the road on that front.
Oh, and if you’re interested in knowing more about Banishers, best head over to Focus Entertainment’s YouTube channel, where it’s lined up a series of short videos going over a multitude of the title’s gameplay, such as combat basics, exploration of New Eden, and embodying two characters.
