Subscription services have become a big part of the entertainment industry in the past decade. Almost every major company in different niches of media has some sort of subscription model for its works. Gaming is no different and the subscription model is more relevant than ever in our industry due to the Xbox Game Pass.
Many different developers like EA and Ubisoft employ varying forms of the subscription service model. However, the Xbox Game Pass and the PlayStation Plus are arguably the most popular gaming subscriptions. Both of these compete with each other to put better games on the service to appease their consumers.
One thing both of them have in common is that they give underrated games a lot of exposure. Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass has been doing this for many games as the service is extremely popular. Now, another game has received the exposure it deserved through the Game Pass.

Chivalry 2 has gained 500,000 players since its release on the Xbox Game Pass earlier this week. The official Twitter account of the game reported this news and welcomed new players to the game. So, the multiplayer action-adventure has received a lot of exposure on the Game Pass.

Video games getting exposure from the Microsoft service is not a new thing and we have seen it many times before. Chivalry 2 is just the most recent game to gain a huge number of players after coming on the service. Previously, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy got popular after arriving on the Xbox Game Pass.
The game had been a disappointment in sales according to Square Enix and did not meet their expectations. But, Microsoft then paid millions to have it on the Xbox Game Pass. It worked in the favor of both these companies as the title became the most popular game on the service at the time of its release.
So, not only do titles become more popular after releasing on the Xbox Game Pass, they get compensation too. A lot of debate has been raging on about how the service impacts developers. However, it seems like it helps them get some much-needed exposure for their projects and Tripwire Interactive would agree.
Everybody has a different opinion but the fact is Chivalry 2 got a massive increase in players after releasing on the service. The action might game even gain more players due to it being multiplayer. So, at this moment it seems like the Xbox Game Pass is doing developers a lot of good.
