CS:GO 2’s Panorama UI Is A Next-Level Addition To The Game

Though its limitations are unclear, the feature packs huge potential.

Story Highlights

  • The Panorama UI in CS: GO 2 allows you to play videos in-game, opening doors to many possibilities.
  • You can also embed websites like Twitch and potentially host watch parties within the game.
  • Some people may remember this being possible with Source 1 Garry’s Mod, but this hasn’t been a feature in any CS titles.

CS: GO 2’s Source 2 rendition is bringing huge changes to the first-person shooter. Among the many new features, the Panorama UI is sure to excite the fans as it opens room for many possibilities. CS2 mappers can now play videos in-game and even embed sites to host actual watch parties. Considering how some people might use this, we might see more limitations added to this feature.

Thanks to CS: GO mapper/modder Angel_Foxxo, who found this feature via the Source Engine Discord, we can at least confirm Twitch streams to be one of the things you can embed in-game. Aside from that, if you want to host a watch party with your fans, you will likely be limited due to DMCA or other policies implemented on various social media platforms. It still may not be a big issue if you want to keep it with just your friends.

For the uninitiated, Panorama was added to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2018 to improve FPS and give the menu a revised look. It brought several other features that have since become a norm within the community, including leaderboards, player skins, and weapons.

It has only been a short time since the beta release, so there might be more to it than we think. Similarly, we can expect changes to this feature as it progresses toward the final product. Nevertheless, the idea itself is great and can open the gateway to other much-needed features. CS: GO 2 is now shaping up to become more and more exciting, just as we had hoped it to be.
