Story Highlights
- Dragon’s Dogma 2 has just come out, albeit launching to mixed reception due to a number of reasons.
- Despite the negative reviews and such, it’s still Capcom’s biggest single-player Steam launch to date.
- Underneath the performance issues lies a fantastic game with rich storytelling and gameplay.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the one to put your eyes on these days, as the game not only receives well-grounded praise from all over the world but gets done in by a ton of backlash aimed at its performance issues and sudden microtransactions as well. Despite everything, however, the title is doing wonders for Capcom on Steam, marking itself as the developer’s biggest launch on the platform to date.
Some of the other Capcom games in recent memory that came out earlier include Street Fighter 6, which clocked a peak concurrent player count of 70,000 users about 10 months ago, and the Resident Evil 4 remake. The latter went considerably higher on the list, topping things off at 168,000+ players not long after release. This still doesn’t overtake what Dragon’s Dogma 2 has got going for itself at the moment.
Misconceptions Surrounding Dragon’s Dogma 2 Are Starting To Clear Up
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s launch wasn’t exactly a bed of roses, but it’s slowly managing to pull through everything people have misconstrued about it. At the start, the title got panned heavily for its microtransactions that were seemingly thought of as barring basic gameplay features such as fast travel and character re-do behind a paywall.
