EA Motive Confirms Leaked Iron Man Footage Is Real: “See You When We’re Ready”

Motive Studios wasn’t ready to show its Iron Man game yet. The internet decided otherwise.

Footage From An Internal Build

A roughly two-and-a-half-minute clip started circulating on ResetEra and Reddit on August 28, showing what appears to be an early test trailer for Motive’s project. There’s no audio, but the visuals are detailed enough to work with.

The clip opens with Tony Stark suiting up, then cuts to high-speed flight across a city skyline that feels similar to the jet-boot traversal from the shuttered Anthem.

From there, it moves into combat, with Iron Man slamming enemies into the ground, firing lasers and a chest beam, and launching what look like explosive rounds. A closing shot shows Tony adjusting the suit in a way that reads as player-facing customization.

Other characters reportedly show up too, including:

• Pepper Potts
• James Rhodes, in his War Machine armor
• A figure resembling Crimson Dynamo
• What appears to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier

The footage is clearly unfinished. Placeholder assets are visible throughout, the release window field is blank, and a watermark reading “AUG26 TEST” appears onscreen, suggesting it comes from a recent internal build rather than a finished trailer.

Motive Breaks Its Silence

The project’s official account – dormant since the game was first announced – posted shortly after the leak spread.

Well, that didn’t go as planned,” the studio wrote. “But now you know, and we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.”

It’s a short statement, but it does two things at once. It confirms the footage is real, and it signals Motive already had reveal plans in motion before the leak forced its hand. 

A Second Iron Man Leak, Unrelated To This One

This isn’t the only Iron Man footage making the rounds this week. Days earlier, video surfaced online claiming to show gameplay from a completely different Iron Man project, one Avalanche Studios worked on in the early 2010s before it was cancelled and shelved for good. The two leaks have nothing to do with each other beyond the character, but the overlap has led to some understandable confusion online.

Where The Project Stands

EA and Marvel Games first announced Motive’s Iron Man game back in September 2022, describing it as a single-player, third-person action-adventure built around an original story starring Tony Stark. Motive, the studio behind the Dead Space remake, moved development onto Unreal Engine 5 in 2023, and beyond scattered hiring updates, this leak is the first real look anyone outside the studio has gotten at how the game plays.

With Motive now openly acknowledging the leak and teasing more to come, an official reveal looks likely before the end of the year.
