Xbox Has Greenlit Hellblade 3 For Ninja Theory, Claims Insider

The Hellblade series has a bright future ahead.

Story Highlights

  • The new greenlit Ninja Theory project is supposedly Hellblade 3, as claimed by the insider Gaz.
  • The rumor began when Jez Corden remarked that the studio was not closing anytime soon.
  • Jez also previously corroborated that a title besides Project MARA was recently greenlit.

The new greenlit Ninja Theory project by Microsoft is apparently Hellblade 3, as claimed by industry insider Gaz on Twitter. He confirmed the tidbit to corroborate a previous rumor by Jez Corden, who also explained that a new title besides Project MARA was recently greenlit for the prominent studio. Microsoft has seemingly approved the new iteration of Hellblade to give devs assurance after Tango Gameworks was closed.

Recently, Ninja Theory thanked the community and commemorated the coming launch of Hellblade 2 on Twitter. However, the message felt more like a goodbye to some gamers, causing Jez and Gaz to come forward and assure the fans that it was not the case. Regardless, I recommend taking this rumor with a huge grain of salt. The studio has not yet shared official details regarding the next Hellblade.

Ninja Theory May Bring Hellblade 3 Sooner Than We Expected

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is launching over half a decade after the original entry came out. However, creating the entry has not taken as long as you’d think, with devs starting to work on it in 2020. Many elements, such as the pandemic, switching over to Unreal Engine 5, and building a new mocap facility beforehand, resulted in such a long delay in its release. So, it’s quite likely that Hellblade 3 could come out in a matter of a few years
