Story Highlights

  • Life is Strange has crossed 20 million players eight years after its release, as revealed by the devs on Twitter.
  • The team has thanked the fans for the overwhelming support shown to the franchise over the years.
  • The title was a critical success upon release and has stood the test of time with multiple sequels.

The Original Life is Strange has surpassed over 20 million players eight years after coming out. In other words, it has continued to sell like hotcakes despite hitting nearly half a decade. The team took to Twitter to celebrate the new milestone during the Thanksgiving occasion. And the devs have thanked the fans for continuing to shower the franchise with support. The franchise is renowned for featuring hearty storylines that explore serious topics.

The announcement by the devs is a little vague. It is currently unclear whether the team is counting players who have enjoyed all five episodes or only those who ended up giving one or two episodes a try. All in all, we do know that the title has been showered with praise ever since its debut over the years. It is responsible for revitalizing the narrative game genre and putting new twists on it.

The original game was a resounding triumph that is still held in high regard by the fans. It sold a million copies, along with gaining a million players during its first year, even before all of its episodes were released. The victories did not stop there, as the heartfelt storytelling went on to shift over three million copies after two years in 2017. The series has seen multiple sequels over the years and a successful prequel mixed in between.
