The wait is soon coming to an end; Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have finally announced a release date for the awaited Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The title seemingly comes out during the last week of January 2024, as affirmed in the trailer that delved into many specifics of the game. The official story trailer — revealed during Sega’s RGG Summit Fall 2023 live stream on YouTube  — showed the entry’s setting and fan-favorite characters.

The huge trailer for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (previously known as the Yakuza series) has pulled the heartstrings of many gamers and for good reasons. We see Ichiban and Kiryu stealing the limelight of the trailer. In a shocking statement, Kiryu announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer, making users in the comments worried about how Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will wrap up his chronicles.

The trailer initially starts with Kasuga Ichiban describing the reason behind his visit to the stunning tropical landscape of Hawaii. He is looking for his lost mother. Previously, it was believed that she had passed away, but now he is searching for her whereabouts in Honolulu, Hawaii. Kasuga Ichiban joins hands with Kiryu since supposedly every local gang in the land has decided to go after his mother.

Besides the melodramatic tone, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth contains huge swaths of violence and turn-based battles to satiate the players. There are many gangs and crime conspiracies that users will have to face in Hawaii and Tokyo. Nevertheless, the threats go beyond the realm of common sense, with Kiryu and Ichiban facing giant squids and sharks.

The trailer also delved into the mini-games, such as surfing, karaoke, and paragliding, that players can partake in to forget the heart-stirring story for a few moments.

The devs have previously tried to explain the logic behind Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth’s name, confusing players more in the process. As per RGG Studio, the concept of infinity is also deeply intertwined with the lore of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The title will launch on the same day as Tekken 8 on January 26, 2024. It is slated to come out for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.
