Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 Slim Bundles Leaked Online

The boxes are reportedly much smaller than the previous model PS5s.

Story Highlights

  • The PlayStation 5 Slim is the mid-gen refresh of the PS5 console, launching this month.
  • A Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 bundle of the PS5 Slim has been spotted online.
  • This hints that an official announcement for making the console available is close.

From the looks of it, Sony is preparing to ready the release of the PlayStation 5 Slim—the company’s mid-gen refresh of the PS5 console, which was first launched in November 2020. Yesterday, the new unit’s unboxing was spotted online, along with a size comparison between the Slim and the previous model. Now, a Marvel’s Spider-Man 2-themed PlayStation 5 Slim bundle has been leaked ahead of time.

The original text is in Spanish, but the translation reads, “I found the PS5 Slim at work. The box was very small lmao (by the way, there are 40 of those in that cage, so there must be more than 40 thousand there).” As per the comment section, the leaked photos are from an Amazon warehouse, the uploader of the images confirms.

Replying to a person asking how much the box weighs, Flioryx replies, “Literally nothing.” That’s obviously a stretch, though, because PlayStation has revealed the official specifications for the PS5 Slim. According to the blog post, the revisited version of the console’s physical edition weighs about 3.2 kg, which is a kilo less than the standard PlayStation 5’s 4.5 kg weight.

The digital variant is more feather-like, weighing only 2.6 kg as opposed to its former counterpart comprising a 3.9 kg weight. Additionally, I’m not sure if the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 bundle will come with a digital variant as well, given how all the boxes in the leaked photos are that of the physical edition. As for the pricing, it’s said that it’ll be kept the same as the previous bundle of this game and the console.

It bears mentioning that no official release date for the PS5 Slim has been issued by the developers up until now. The aforementioned blog post that detailed the new look for the console this holiday season mentions November being the launch month for the unit and leaves it at that. According to billbil-kun, however, who is a known PlayStation insider, the console will be available for purchase on November 10.

For those who missed it, a new Call of Duty ad first spotted by CharlieIntel found its way online, making it known that Modern Warfare 3 — the upcoming Call of Duty installment — would ship for free with the PS5 Slim in a new bundle, with the whole unit costing no more than $499. The release date provided for this combo is also November 10, which is the same as the landing day of Modern Warfare 3.

The PlayStation 5 Slim was revealed last month, advertised to come with a 1 TB SSD upgrade over the previous model’s 825 GB storage capacity. The digital edition of the new unit can also incorporate an attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, which is sold separately for $79.99.
