Modern Warfare 3 Physical Units Out In The Wild Already

Some stores are seemingly selling the game ahead of its release.

Story Highlights

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the next major iteration in the long-running COD series.
  • Although it releases on November 10, 2023, globally, some vendors have broken its street date.
  • Even for those who get it early, the game is locked and not playable until its proper launch.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will find itself launching across the world on November 10, 2023. Despite the fact that the game’s in early access at the moment, with only its campaign unlocked and made playable, physical copies of the title have been spotted out in the wild, fairly ahead of its release date. An interesting point to note though is how the back cover says, “The best-selling franchise on Xbox.”

Thanks to WarzoneIntel on X, it’s been reported that Modern Warfare 3’s various multiplayer aspects remain locked at the moment, so there’s no way you’re booting it online to knock a few rounds out with your friends right now. The online portion will open up four days from now, which is when the first-person shooter will be released for all its platforms.

Until then, you’re free to play Modern Warfare 3’s campaign, which, by the way, entails its own sad story, unfortunately. Ever since the story mode of the game opened up for players and critics to get into, it’s been absolutely mauled for its lack of depth, lackluster quality, and barely workable length, which clocks in somewhere between 3-4 hours—much to the disappointment of fans.

In light of all this, users have criticized the $70 price tag of the FPS heavily as well, saying that Modern Warfare 3 feels more like a DLC — a bad one at that too — rather than a full game, given how it won’t launch with new maps either and will use remade versions of older maps instead. Oh, and on top of that, the game’s like 213 GB with the high-resolution assets, the COD HQ app, Warzone, and the campaign.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be released on November 10, 2023, for a myriad of platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
