Story Highlights
- Remnant 2 is finally out after months and months of unflinching anticipation. Gunfire Games and Gearbox Publishing have come together to push out the sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, which was initially launched in 2019 for multiple systems.
- The third-person Soulslike shooter has been out since 21 July for those who bought the Ultimate Edition of the title, leading early adopters to get a taste of what is otherwise a high-quality RPG. Up until now, Remnant 2 has gathered diverse critical acclaim from reviewers across the world.
- As of July 25, the game is officially out on all platforms and the developer has revealed a rip-roaring launch trailer to announce Remnant 2’s global arrival. Side by side, Gunfire Games is hard at work trying to pluck out bugs and issue fixes to everything currently plaguing the title.
Remnant 2 has been making waves across the industry for its rip-roaring action combat and deeply improved overall gameplay that makes the title a significant upgrade over its predecessor. Those who bought the title’s Ultimate Edition benefitted from three days of early access, but it’s only now that Remnant 2 has launched across the world for everyone else.
On the other side of things, the developer Gunfire Games currently appears to be all in on ensuring a smooth Remnant 2 gameplay experience for players around the world. As per the various reports surfacing on community forums, such as Reddit, many are complaining about bugs and other technical issues that are currently plaguing the optimal Remnant 2 experience.
All things considered, Gunfire Games has still managed to release a playable video game, which is seemingly becoming somewhat of a rarity in 2023. A deluge of broken AAA releases in recent times, including Redfall, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and The Last of Us Part 1 PC, has fans wishing for games that just work upon launch. Thankfully, Remnant 2 fits the memo as far as the latter is concerned.
Speaking to the fans of the franchise, the official Remnant 2 Twitter page has posted as of late, expressing its gratitude for an incredible response toward the title. Moreover, the developers have issued an update that they’re constantly trying to resolve the issues that have come into light. One of them is the inability to invite players to join your session on the PlayStation 5.
Thank you all SO much for jumping into #Remnant2 today! The love and support you all have shared is just incredible. ❤️

The first relevant post on the r/remnantgame subreddit surfaced a little over 4 days ago, describing how it’s impossible to get some of your friends on the same session as you on the PlayStation 5. Surprisingly, the bug doesn’t seem to be present on the Xbox Series X|S consoles or PC. It’s taking some time for Gunfire Games to hammer out the exact problem, but it will be resolved in due time—that’s for sure.

Remnant 2 blends action-packed third-person shooting with RPG mechanics and a baseline formula that resembles FromSoftware’s Dark Souls series. That is to say, the title is fairly difficult, even for franchise experts, and will certainly put you to your paces. With this being said, the amount of satisfaction one receives upon clearing a set piece or boss fight after an ungodly number of attempts is just what these types of games have imparted their success from.
In other news, though, a recent hotfix pushed out by the developers has resolved the infamous slowdown issue, along with numerous bugs and glitches that were otherwise disrupting players across the spectrum. Moreover, a myriad of progression blocks have been lifted, including the cinematic crashing in the Labyrinth area.
Furthermore, Remnant 2 has been crafted from the ground up with upscaling in mind. One of the developers addressing the criticism has clarified in a Reddit post,
We’ve heard from a few folks about the game’s overall performance. We’re definitely going to roll out performance updates after the game’s launch. But for the sake of transparency, we designed the game with upscaling in mind (DLSS/FSR/XeSS).”
Remnant 2 is out now for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out our in-depth review of the game and find out what the title does good and where it falters significantly.
