Story Highlights
- Resident Evil 4 has finally received the highly-anticipated DLC expansion, Separate Ways, which features seven chapters worth of content.
- Capcom has reimagined the DLC’s story, repurposing one of the game’s characters as a fan-favorite boss for Ada Wong.
The long-awaited Separate Ways DLC for this year’s Resident Evil 4 is out; it features seven chapters worth of content with several surprises. Spoiler warning, you can see the final chapter in the video below at 0:32. This amount of content is not only greater than the original version, but it’s also approximately half of the base game’s length. As many players have been speculating since March 2023, the DLC pits Ada against the fan-favorite foe, U-3, lovingly termed “IT” by Osmund Saddler.
Following in the footsteps of RE4’s remake, Capcom has reimagined the story of Separate Ways in a creative fashion. Furthermore, gameplay elements have been refined in accordance with the character of Ada, adding more movement options and verticality. As shown on the official site, players will be able to use the grappling gun with greater convenience, allowing them to reach various locations and take down enemies from afar.
In addition to the new gameplay mechanics and a reimagined story, Separate Ways will also utilize one of Salazar’s loyal servants. Unlike the original game, the remake of RE4 has taken the black-robed Verdugo and placed it as a recurring boss for Ada Wong. Furthermore, it’s been repurposed as the aforementioned “IT” to be a part of the DLC.
Capcom announced the DLC during last week’s State of Play, revealing the launch date of the expansion in addition to a free update for RE4. Said update will add Ada along with recurring RE villain, Albert Wesker, as playable characters in the Mercenaries mode.
