Resident Evil 4 Mod Adds In-Game Costume Menu; Ends Up Unlocking Unused Voice Lines

There's more to this than what meets the eye.

Story Highlights

  • A Resident Evil 4 modder has developed a mod that allows the players to change outfits in-game.
  • The mod also makes use of some unused voice lines, making the characters talk about each other’s outfit changes.
  • The mod is currently available to download from the Modding Haven Discord server.

A Resident Evil 4 modder by the name of “aaronlink” has found a way to enable a costume menu in-game. Pretty neat, right? But that’s not all. The modder discovered that changing the costumes in-game would result in the characters commenting on each other’s outfit changes, which certainly points to a pre-programmed script  The mod is currently available to download on the Modding Haven Discord server.

As depicted by Snipzuu’s tweet, the mod adds the “Extras” option in the pause menu, allowing you to change the characters’ costumes while playing the game. The clip also revealed that Leon and Ashley sometimes would comment on each other’s outfits, which raises the question: what’s the point of these voice lines if there’s no way to change the costumes in-game?

It can also be a feature that was supposed to be implemented in a future update or something they had to remove before adding the finishing touches to the game due to bugs. Resident Evil 4 features many costumes for both Leon and Ashley, the game’s main characters. You can select any costume by going to the “Main Story” and then selecting the “Extras” option from the game’s main menu.

One issue with it is that you cannot change the outfit of your characters while playing the game. However, this mod by “aaronlink” fixes that problem. Regardless of the reason behind the existence of these voice lines in the game, it is still wholesome to see Leon and Ashley talking about each other’s outfits occasionally.

The mod can be downloaded from the “Modding Haven Exclusives” channel under their discord server. However, it’s not been tested fully yet and could cause bugs and glitches in some areas of the game.
