Starfield Beta Update 1.8.83 Notes Released; Features DLSS Support

Starfield beta update 1.8.83 is now accessible for Steam players and offers the chance to test the forthcoming update in a dedicated beta version of the game. Following the beta phase, the update will be rolled out to both Xbox and PC players later this month. Notable additions in this update include DLSS support, enhancements to performance, and various fixes to improve gameplay.

In terms of gameplay, players now have the ability to consume food placed in the world, and the stealth mechanics have been adjusted to be more forgiving. An issue where Andreja’s head remained permanently cloaked has been resolved, and a bug preventing players from firing their weapons has been fixed. Instances of NPCs appearing without clothing have also been resolved. 

Regarding graphics improvements, the appearance of ambient occlusion in ultrawide resolutions has been addressed, and the initial shader compilation during startup has been optimized. Brightness and Contrast adjustments have been added to the Display Settings menu. HDR Brightness adjustment has been included for Xbox and Windows 11 platforms if supported.

As for Quest fixes, “All That Money Can Buy,” a rare issue where players couldn’t sit during the negotiation with Musgrove has been fixed. In the quest “Blast Zone,” an issue where the hard rocks needed to be cleared out on Ngodup Tate’s land would not appear has been resolved. Additionally, in the quest “The Heart of Mars,” a fix was implemented to address an issue where players might not be able to mine “The Heart of Mars.”
