Story Highlights
- Stellar Blade is one of the most hyped-up PlayStation exclusives making landfall later this year.
- The game’s file size has been reportedly unearthed, with the game requiring at least 35 GB at the start.
- This is still a tentative figure and is likely to go up once the day-one update and subsequent patches start rolling in.
South Korean game developer Shift Up is plotting to release its first AAA-grade title for the PlayStation 5 soon, but way ahead of Stellar Blade’s launch, it seems we already have viable information pertaining to its download size. As shared by Genki, a reliable industry person, on X (formerly Twitter), the back of the RPG’s boxed edition confirms the minimum storage requirement for the title is 35 GB.
Here is the back of the box. It says it requires “more than 35GB” free storage capacity. It’s still early so it might not be final. Not sure. I was imagining the game will be around 50-60GB but we will have to wait and see! pic.twitter.com/bdkBRD3Eb7

I least expected the game to clock in somewhere around the 60 GB region myself, so this does raise eyebrows as to how a game that’s seemingly looking this good and feature-packed, could sport a relatively low file size. Either there’s a whole bunch of compression going around with Stellar Blade, or there’s just not a lot of gameplay variety in the RPG. I sincerely hope it’s not the latter.
On a side note, though, we do know the story runtime of the game already. In a recent interview, Shift Up’s CEO Kim Hyeong-Tae let us in on a little bit of detail, confirming the length of the game’s main story, which is substantially more than Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2.
It is not that defects were discovered during the inspection process, but the release was delayed due to the polishing process. Play time is expected to be about 25 hours for the main story and 30 to 50 hours if you include all the collection elements.”
