Story Highlights
- The Finals is a relatively new live service shooter by Embark Studios and free-to-play at that as well.
- The game’s new seasonal content dump brings unexpected changes to the shooter and changes the theme.
- More weapons, arenas, and specializations will become available as soon as The Finals’ Season 2 drops.
The Finals is Embark Studios’ latest live service first-person shooter that happens to belong to the free-to-play genre but trust me when I say this one has blown up quite a fair bit over the course of its release. Although the title has been performing well ever since its open beta rolled out, Embark has been constantly pushing The Finals’ development, now ending up with a brand-new season full of interesting content.
From the looks of it, the new seasonal content dump will follow a “hacked” theme, which is pretty ironic so to speak, considering that many of the complaints pertaining to The Finals come in the wake of hacks, cheats, and some bad eggs trying to exploit the game. Anyhow, Season 2 is set to bring new weapons, maps, and gadgets, where one of them, particularly the Dematerializer, stands out more than the others.
A specialization that temporarily erases physical surfaces, like walls, ceilings, or goo — allowing contestants to see, shoot, and pass through them. Create new passageways and close them back up again as contestants turn every obstacle in their path into an open door,” defines Embark on PlayStation Blog.
Embark Has Reignited Fan Interest With The Finals’s Season 2
Fan reception for The Finals Season 2 has been incredibly well with Embark actively listening to the community and putting out a breath of fresh air afterward to retain user attention. If you’re a fellow The Finals enjoyer, mark your calendar for March 14—that’s when the new season slides right in.

The Finals was released on December 7, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. eXputer rated the title 4/5 in its review, elaborating how it has the “potential to go toe-to-toe with the kings of the arena-shooter genre” all the while having “a ways to go until it gets to that level.”
