A possible last-gen and Switch release could be on the way.

Story Highlights

  • The rating on both platforms suggests that the game could possibly launch on last-gen and Switch in the future.
  • The title has received mixed reception after launch by gamers and critics alike because it is rough around the edges.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria has been rated for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Brazil. As spotted by the Twitter user @Kurakasis, the Brazil games rating board has recently rated the entry on both platforms. The devs at Free Range Games had not included these consoles amidst the announced platforms for the LotR entry.

It is strange because both platforms were listed on the rating board alongside the others in September. The abrupt sighting suggests that the title’s arrival on the last-gen and handheld could be imminent in the future. But the project likely has a long way to go before it is ready for last-gen consoles, which could explain a lack of official confirmation. We suggest taking the rating with a grain of salt until the devs officially confirm the rumors.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria follows the Dwarves as they embark on a new adventure to reclaim their legendary home of Moria beneath the Misty Mountains. Players will join forces to survive, craft, build and explore the iconic, sprawling mines. Courageous expeditioners will need to be vigilant as mysterious dangers await,” reads the official description.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria has already been released for PC on October 24, 2023. The RPG has been met with mixed reception after its awaited launch. Many gamers and critics alike have appreciated the entry’s enticing features that are hindered by rougher gameplay and a lack of original ideas.

It is also slated to release for the PlayStation 5 later this year on December 5, while an Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X launch still remains up in the air. The release window alludes to the first or second quarter of next year. Now, the new rating also indirectly confirms that the title could be heading toward a Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 release. However, no evidence in the rating or from the dev remarks affirms an Xbox One arrival.
