Final Fantasy XVI Collector’s Edition Is A Whopping £330

The Collector's Edition with a premium statue will cost you in excess of $400.

As the world has gone through an economic downturn in recent times, the price of commodities has increased. Gaming is no exception as the prices of consoles like the PlayStation 5 and standard games themselves have gone up.

Hence, players have to pay more in different regions to play their favorite games, like the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI. The newest game in the Final Fantasy series is coming out next year with much hype surrounding it. But, if hardcore fans want to buy the Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XVI, they will have to pay an exorbitant price.

Square Enix has priced the Collector’s Edition of the upcoming RPG at £330 in their European store.

Major Takeaways

  • Final Fantasy XVI’s Collector’s Edition is selling for £330.
  • This price is £100 more than the previous game’s Collector’s Edition and players aren’t looking forward to buying it.
  • Even though the collection has a lot of items like a statue, a map, a pin collection, and digital items, it’s still overpriced.

You can view the Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XVI on the European Square Enix store. Not only is this price over $400, but it’s also a massive increase from the previous title’s Collector’s version. Final Fantasy XV’s Collector items were only £230 (€270 or $282), almost £100 less than the 2023’s sequels price.

Players also hold a similar opinion about this price. A poll conducted on the forum ResetEra about the pricing of Final Fantasy XVI’s Collector’s Edition gave us our answer. More than 47% of the people voted for the “Are you crazy? That’s way too much money” option in the poll.

Only 12.4% of people voted for the “Take my Money” option on the pole. Meanwhile, 4.3% of the voters were on the fence about this price, while others voted for irrelevant options. A fan in the replies complained about the increasing price of Collector’s Editions saying “CE’s just keep getting more expensive every year. Yikes.

Hence, it’s safe to assume that players are also not huge fans of Final Fantasy XVI’s Collector’s Edition pricing. The content of the £330 item collection also doesn’t do the price justice. First of all, you’ll receive the Standard Edition of the game in the package.

In the Collector’s Edition goods box, you’ll then find a Premium State called Phoenix vs Ifrit. The statue depicts a battle between two eikons, the Phoenix and the Ifrit. All of the items including the statue will come packed in a metallic box featuring artwork from the legendary illustrator Yoshitaka Amano.

You will also obtain a Metal Eikon Pin Collection from Final Fantasy XVI’s Collector’s Edition. It is a premium pin collection and will feature eight Eikons. A special Clive Rosfield SteelBook Case will also be present in this collection and features the artwork of the protagonist of the same name.

Final Fantasy XVI takes place in Valisthea and the Collector’s Edition gives you an in-depth look at this place. Among the items is a cloth map of Valisthea, which you can use to observe the place in real life. Switching to digital items, you will get a Bonus Weapon in the form of the Blood Sword, the Scarlet Steel of Firion.

Other in-game bonus items include the Scholar’s Spectacles and the Digital Mini Artbook and Digital Mini Soundtrack. In addition to all of this, a Braveheart bonus weapon and a Cait Sith Charm bonus accessory will also be present if you pre-order. Also, if you pre-order from the Square Enix Store, a Realms of Valisthea 15cm wall banner and a SteelBook case will be present.

So, the pricey Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XVI does come with a lot of items. However, considering the average prices of such collections and the current economic climate, the pricing is unfair. The game comes out on June 22, 2023, on the PlayStation 5, and hopefully, it justifies the high price.
