Koei Tecmo Wants to Bring More Games To Xbox Game Pass And PS Plus Extra

The developer is showing interest in expanding its catalog on subscription services.

Story Highlights

  • Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty saw its launch earlier last month. In response to the game’s release, Koei Tecmo is surveying to collect feedback.
  • The developer has asked players about what other games they’d like to see on Microsoft’s and Sony’s subscription services.
  • Previously, producer Fumihiko Yasuda has stated that there are no plans to have Nioh on Xbox platforms.

In a recent survey, Koei Tecmo asked its fans about the games they’d like to see on Microsoft‘s and Sony‘s subscription services. The survey mainly seeks to collect data regarding Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. However, some parts of the survey talk about the developer and its projects as a whole. One of the questions asks players about what other Koei Tecmo titles they would like to see on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra.

Team Ninja, a division of Koei Tecmo, saw the launch of its latest Soulslike game earlier last month. Despite receiving a glowing reception, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty struggled with severe performance issues and an identity crisis.

Seeing as how Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was available on Game Pass at launch, this might be a step towards a greater catalog of games on the service. Since Team Ninja is a subdivision of Koei Tecmo, one can imagine people might say Nioh. But we must look at past interviews first to understand the situation.

In an interview with VGC last year, producer Fumihiko Yasuda said, “Currently, there’s not really too much of a possibility of having Nioh on Xbox platforms, but we do hope Xbox fans enjoy Wo Long and look forward to that game coming out. That’s probably all we can say on that at the moment.” While that’s a fairly firm answer, there’s no harm in hoping for the best.

The survey dives deeper as it touches upon features and changes as well. Asking players about the kinds of new additions they would like to see in their games shows that Koei Tecmo is open to player feedback. A fact that has been proven time and again with their demo tests for Nioh and Nioh 2.

Nioh was developed by Team Ninja, a Koei Tecmo subdivision.

Aside from the obvious choice of Nioh, Koei Tecmo is renowned for creating fantastic JRPG and Musou experiences. Having the possibility of the Atelier and Dynasty Warrior titles coming to the Game Pass would bring these entries to a broader audience. Beyond that, perhaps the most curious question from the survey is about limited editions.

In other news, Team Ninja listened to the cries for help as it adjusted one of the major bosses of Wo Long. If you were struggling to defeat this foe before, you might find yourself in a much more favorable position now.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was a thrilling experience despite its shortcomings. You can experience the world of Ancient China embellished with dark fantasy elements on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC.
