Forza Motorsport Demo Was Actually Captured On PC

The footage wasn't from Xbox Series X according to a new edit in the article

One criticism of Microsoft is how weak it’s portfolio of exclusive games is relative to Sony. But, even this lineup is becoming underrated as the studio has a lot of heavy hitters currently under its belt. Among them, Halo and Gears of War are probably the more popular franchises but Forza is not much behind.

Forza is one of the most famous first party games from Microsoft. It has been a constant fixture on the Xbox consoles for almost 18 years and continues to do well as of recently. Almost every game from the series has won awards and its the pinnacle of sports racing games.

Recently at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, we got our first glimpse of the new Forza Motorsport. Players saw a beautiful trailer depicting the features of this next-gen game. However, a new fact has come up which shows that the trailed wasn’t actually from the Xbox Series X version of the game.

A new edit in the original Forza Motorsport article from Xbox says that the footage was actually captured in a PC. Originally, the website published the article on 12th June but this edit happened on 14th June, two days later. So, Xbox have clarified that the footage you see is not from Xbox series X, just a bit later.

Forza Motorsport
Edit on the original article

The edit also has another interesting piece of tidbit besides the clarification. According to the edit Forza Motorsport showed the same results you see in the demo, on Xbox Series X. But, choosing to display the PC version of the demo instead of the original one is a bit suspicious.

It’s nice to see Xbox being so transparent with what they put out. You don’t see that much in the gaming industry and at least they do admit that the demo Doesn’t take place on an Xbox. However, you can’t believe that Forza Motorsport is producing the same results on Series X without proof.

Mostly, a lot of the earlier trailers for games are from the PC versions and not the actual in-engine performance. It’s nothing very unusual to be honest but editing the article a few days later is dubious. Hopefully, we do see some Xbox footage from Forza Motorsport very soon as it comes out in 2023
