God Of War Ragnarok Patch 2.02 Rolls Out, Addresses PS4 Crashing Issues

PlayStation 4 headset-related crashing issues, Polish language support, and more have followed through in the latest patch.

A new patch for God of War Ragnarok has rolled out, tending to PlayStation 4 users who are currently enjoying the father-son duo taking on the Aesir in the Norse pantheon. The game version that you should be playing now is [v. 02.02], which happens to come after the second major update for the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

By taking a look at the official Santa Monica Studio Patch Notes web page, it’s easy to observe how this particular update has brought changes to the PlayStation 4 variant of the game. That’s because the previous patch [v. 02.01] was restricted to the PlayStation 5 only.

The Rundown:

  • God of War Ragnarok is one of the most recent releases of 2022, coming out on November 9, 2022.
  • The latest update for God of War Ragnarok has brought into light scenario-specific crashing issues and managed to fix them as well, as detailed by the freshly uploaded patch notes on the Santa Monica Studio website.
  • Earlier this week, the developers released a [v. 02.01] God of War Ragnarok patch for the PlayStation 5 only. Now, however, the same fixes have carried over to the PlayStation 4 as well.

In terms of the Stability and Performance section, here are the patches that Ragnarok has received for its PlayStation 4 variant.

  • Fixed a rare crash that could occur at the end of the first boss fight.
    • Already fixed for PS5 in patch v02.01
  • Fixed a crash that could appear randomly during gameplay.
    • Already fixed for PS5 in patch v02.01
  • Fixed a crash when using the Platinum Wireless Headset.
    • Issue not applicable for PS5.

As for the part that talks about fixing a crash when using the Platinum Wireless Headset, this was an issue that was starting to become quite a bother for a few people. Multiple individuals, such as this NeoGaf user and an aspiring player from Reddit, reported the issue on their respective forums.

Thankfully, the issue has been addressed in the latest patch, so no more worrying yourself when plugging in your Platinum Wireless Headset.

Moreover, the developers have added in support for the Polish language, so franchise fans from Poland can enjoy the game as if the Norse mythology and Kratos hailed from their own country. Here is the changes detailed right alongside a quick error fix from the side of the developers in case things don’t turn out right on your first go.

  • Added Polish language audio support for players that purchased the game on disc in Poland.
  • Note: Please ensure that the game is fully installed from the disc or network and patched to version 2.02 before enabling Polish language in the Speech Language settings.
    • If the game is not fully installed there will be no audio or subtitles for the in-game dialog.
    • To correct, please close the app and restart once the game is fully installed and the patch install is complete.

God of War Ragnarok is nothing short of a phenomenon at the moment, grabbing 10 nominations at The Game Awards and listing itself as a sure-fire contender for the major Game of the Year award right alongside Elden Ring. It’s certainly going to be a rock-solid between these two—that’s for sure.

In addition, the much-acclaimed title has reached its first week sales target by selling north of 3.5 million copies in a span of one week. There’s just no doubting the fact that God of War Ragnarok has been an instant success.
