Battlefield 2042’s Third Game Mode is Rumored to Feature Classic Battlefield Maps

Battlefield 2042 looks in tip-top condition judging from the gameplay trailer that came out just a week ago. Fans of the series—both casual and hardcore—all seem to be euphoric about what EA has done with their large-scale shooter. Set in the not-so-distant future, the upcoming Battlefield iteration features top-of-the-line weaponry, a wingsuit and grappling hook, and sheer destruction with 128 concurrent players. If that’s not taking it to the next level, we don’t know what is.

An intriguing point to ponder, however, is the third unannounced game mode that can be viewed as “Redacted” on the game’s official website. The first two mentioned experiences are All-Out Warfare and Hazard Zone, with the latter focusing on an intense, close combat setting. The last one to be seen is termed as “Redacted,” which means that the portion is currently censored to prevent public disclosure.

That said, a reliable Battlefield YouTuber Tom Henderson has shed light on this unrevealed experience (Credits: VG24/7). According to his sources, the game mode is going to be called Battlefield Hub, and it will feature classic yet remastered maps using the Battlefield 2042 engine. In his video, he’s explained the whole scene.

Tom says (starting from 3:02 in the video), “The biggest piece of information is that the Battlefield Hub is going to be the ultimate sandbox experience and is going to be the fun game mode when it comes to Battlefield 2042. The reason the person has described it as a fun game mode is because they say that this isn’t necessarily going to be a competitive experience or is going to be a balanced experience. Instead, this is going to be the ultimate sandbox experience in which players are just going to be able to have fun. Like I said in the beginning of the video, a Battlefield 1 tank vs a Battlefield 3 tank.”

So that’s that. Currently, the Redacted section on Battlefield 2042’s website reads, “Created as a love letter to our core fans, a new way to play Battlefield is coming. Discover unexpected battles and enter the wide universe of Battlefield with this experience.”

None of the rumored information is final as of yet. Therefore, keeping that in mind as you bicker about with Battlefield Hub seems like the only plausible approach here. We’re going to have to wait till the EA Play event scheduled for July 22 to confirm the Battlefield Hub.
