There are tons of treasures that are hidden behind different puzzles in Baldur’s Gate 3. Although these are hidden, the puzzles can be solved in a few simple steps. One such is the BG3 Selune Chest in the Owlbear Cave. If you try to open the chest without unlocking it, it will zap you and deal damage.
- To unlock the Selune Chest in Baldur’s Gate 3, players will have to solve the Puzzle behind it.
- Jump across the River, and upon a successful Perception Roll, find the Selunite Prayer Sheet.
- Jump back and on Religion Roll, read the Prayer Sheet.
- Don’t give the Prayer Sheet to Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3, as she won’t read it.
- A few players reported that Shadowheart asked them to destroy the Chest’s possessions. But that might have been changed in the Full Release of Baldur’s Gate 3.
- The Selune Chest contains the Idol of Selune, Silver Necklace, and a few other rewards.
What Is Selune Chest In Baldur’s Gate 3
The BG3 Selune Chest is a magically locked chest. The chest can’t be unlocked by any normal means, not even with magic spells. There is a trick to unlock the Selune Chest. To solve the puzzle, you will have to look for a specific item. I’ll explain that in a while.
How To Open Selunce Chest In BG3?
Inside the cave, there will be the chest now, as I’ve already mentioned that you can’t open the Chest just yet. If you try to do so, it will cause a small explosion on your face which will take out a chunk of your HP. You will have to open it using a Prayer Sheet that you’ll have to locate. In a way, it is a sort of puzzle.
Prayer Sheet
To open the chest, you will have to look at the available area. There is a Statue across the river. And if you look behind, that is the prayer using which you can unlock the Selune Chest. To get there, you will first have to Jump across the river using the jump command.
When you make it to the other side successfully, your whole party will do a Perception Check. If it was successful, then you will find the Selunite Prayer Sheet behind the statue. If you happen to fail the Perception Check, you will have to go back and jump again. Then the whole part will again perform a Perception Check.
Reading The Prayer Sheet
When the character has acquired the Chest, they will do a Religion roll. If they fail to do it successfully, you can give it to another party member. When they perform a successful Religion Roll, they will be willing to read the Prayer Sheet. Upon reading it, the chest will be unlocked.
Shadowheart’s Resistance
Now a few players have reported that Shadowheart will order the player to destroy the rewards from the chest. As I was playing after the full release of the game, I only faced some resistance from her for reading the Prayer Sheet. Other than that, she didn’t ask me to destroy anything.
Now that can be that those players experienced it in Early Access, and the developers have changed it in the latest update. From what I’ve gained on different Reddit, she will ask you to destroy some items from the BG3 Selune Chest because they can be cursed by Selune. If you don’t agree with her, you will lose 10 points of attitude.
For some players, that might not be a big deal, but it is best that you know the consequences of your actions. If you want to obtain the chest’s possessions and also not lose points of attitude from Shadowheart, here’s what you should do.
For that, you can ungroup your party. Now, make Shadowheart stand at a distance, preferably at the cave’s beginning or outside it. That will make it so that whatever actions you take won’t have any effect on her attitude.
Rewards
Upon opening the chest, you will get the following items. Now these items can be different if Shadowheart asked you to destroy the items.
- Selunite Rite
- Silver Necklace
- Bloodstone
- Idol of Selune
- Moondrop Pendant
From what I have discovered, these items are not of that much importance. You can sell them for some additional gold.
That is all of the BG3 Selune Chest and How to Unlock it. There are a ton of features to the perfect game for any Dungeons & Dragons genre fans. You can have a ton of Companions to help you on your journey. In addition to that, there are different Classes, including Cleric and Druid.
