Baldur’s Gate 3: Addled Frog’s Secret Reward [Explained]

In Baldur’s Gate 3, you will encounter various animals that you can talk to through the use of the Speak with Animals spell. One such animal is the BG3 Addled Frog which can be found in Act 1 Sunlit Wetlands, to the north of Auntie Ethel’s House. The Addled Frog is an NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3. And depending on your previous actions and choices, the frog will act and respond differently. The conversation can range from being beneficial to being outright strange.

How To Receive The Secret Reward From The Addled Frog In BG3

Now the conversation with the Addled Frog can go two ways. The first, most beneficial, and recommended way will lead you to a secret reward. In this response, the frog will be happy and will be bouncing up and down. And to get this response done, you will have to deal with Auntie Ethel, The Hag of the Swamp, before you talk with the Addled Frog. 

Once you have slain the Hag, talk to the Addled Frog, which will lead you to a hidden chest full of rewards. It is also worth stating that you can find this treasure chest on your own if your character has a high enough perception.

However, it is much easier to get to the chest by talking to the Addled Frog. Furthermore, if you are a cruel person or are roleplaying an evil character, then you can kill the Addled Frog once you have gained the secret reward.

Alternate Response From The Addled Frog

Now if you have not already slain the Hag, Auntie Ethel, then the Addled Frog’s response will be totally different. You will find that the frog is very agitated and stressed. And if you are not wise enough to choose the correct dialogue options while talking to the frog, then the Addled Frog will engage you in a fight. Also, it is worth noting that the Addled Frog will have the first strike, so if you want to take on the frog, you should be prepared.

Other than that, you should know that it is impossible to get the secret reward through this response, as the frog will be killed. However, you can still get the reward if your character has a high enough perception.
