The free update contains the new event called “Festival of Universes” and a new battle mode called “Cross Versus.” Players in the new battle mode will start at the same level and must level up during the battle. Players must play strategically and interfere with the opponent’s moves while completing their own goal. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 producer Jun Song revealed more information about this mode in an interview.
Cross Versus is a new battle mode where two teams of 3 compete against one another. The basic rule is that each team must earn mission points in different areas of a map to open a boss area, and the team that defeats the boss faster than the other team or collects the maximum number of mission points wins,” says Jun Song, the producer of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
As for the Festival of Universes, it will be a regular Universe event starting this update. Players can choose a universe of their choice and join a team featuring other players of the same universe. Players can gain Glory Points for that universe by participating in the event and almost all modes in the game during the event period. After this period, the universe with the most Glory Points will be crowned the winner.
But it seems like many fans are more excited about the Awoken Skill “Ultra Instinct” that will be included in this update. Using it will consume energy to automatically evade the opponent’s attack, making counterattacking possible with the additional input. With this skill, a unique technique power recovery skill will become available, and the Ki blast will be transformed into something more special.
The free update will also include some feature improvements and an Avatar Level Cap Unlock, more details on which will be available in-game. Moreover, the Welcome Campaign in this update will run between October 12 and October 19. During this campaign, players will get log-in bonuses and a free trial for select DLC characters. The list of playable characters can be seen in the tweet.
As for the new DLC, we can expect additional scenarios, more playable characters, and more content. There appear to be more things planned ahead that haven’t been revealed yet. If that wasn’t enough, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next year, though the release date has not been specified as of yet.
