For those not in the know, “going gold” in the gaming industry is technical jargon, and refers to a specific part of the development process where a game is finally in a publishable state now and is ready for the masses to pick up, although the latter only happens when said title comes out globally. At the point of having gone gold, a game comprises all that the devs want it to and are now satisfied to proceed ahead.
Developer Massive Entertainment is helming the project, after having worked on multiple noteworthy IPs, including Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and Tom Clancy’s The Division, while cooking up the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws for 2024 as well. In the case of Frontiers of Pandora, the title was first announced back in 2017, with Ubisoft reprising its publishing privileges for the second Avatar game.

As the game nears its release next month, Ubisoft seems to be pushing the marketing for the game. The publisher landed a post on PlayStation Blog, detailing some of the features you can expect from the PlayStation 5, considering how it supports that fancy haptic feedback and adaptive triggers and all. The features trailer for the title goes into a lot of detail that you might want to pick up on.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will make landfall on December 7, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. During Ubisoft Forward in June 2023, the game was given a concrete release date after suffering a delay from its 2022 release window. The title is standalone, so you do not need to have prior experience watching the Avatar movies to understand it during your playthrough.
