The next step up from the Saints Row reboot is the epic, fast-paced indie Ghostrunner on Epic Games’ list of holiday freebies. Considered one of the best platformers to release this generation, the title in question is loaded to the brim with action, extremely worthy of being purchased for those who miss out on this EGS offering. Speaking of which, it’s a limited-time offer—claim it before the 24 hours are over to keep it forever.
When time runs out for Ghostrunner’s free-to-claim window, expect another game to slide in and replace the latter. I’m not sure what’s coming next, but whatever it’ll be, Ghostrunner’s pricing will go back to $29.99, so make sure to make the most of the offer at hand. However, that speaks only for the Epic Games Store—the game is about 70% on Steam as part of its ongoing Winter Sale, pricing it at $8.99.
When you’re done with Ghostrunner, consider picking up the sequel, which PlayStation announced back in May. It improves upon the shortcomings of its predecessor, and even brings along another movement mechanic as well, thanks to Ghost’s ultra-fast motorcycle. Feel free to catch a glance at its launch trailer that showcases guts-ripping action à la the first Ghostrunner, only better.

The sequel to the critically acclaimed platformer must’ve been on the cards for a while now, given how the developer made an announcement earlier in 2023 that Ghostrunner has rolled over 2.5 million units. The game’s sleek combat merged with its deep cyberpunk aesthetic is nothing to sleep on, as you’ll see when you pick it up and give it a go.
We originally intended to make a 2 million units sold announcement, but the excitement around Ghostrunner 2 has been so incredible that we quickly jumped to 2.5+ million copies so we thought we might as well provide you the most up to date figures.”
Ghostrunner came out on October 27, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, followed by a port to the Nintendo Switch in November of that year. Fast-forward to 2021, developers One More Level and Slipgate Ironworks released a next-gen patch for the game, finally releasing it on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as well.
