Get Ready For Uncapped Framerates On Dragon’s Dogma 2 At Launch

The information comes straight from the director himself.

Story Highlights

  • Director Itsuno-san revealed in a tweet that Dragon’s Dogma’s sequel will have an uncapped framerate.
  • The original tweet’s translation contains the word “variable” which has raised some eyebrows.
  • Previous rumors implied that the game would only support up to 30 FPS on consoles.

It’s been revealed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will feature uncapped framerates at launch. Director Hideaki Itsuno took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce one of the more appreciated features that players often ask for. That said, there seems to be some speculation going on as the tweet appears to have raised some eyebrows.

Itsuno-san wrote the message in both Japanese and English languages. As the latter version reads, the line mentions an “uncapped” framerate for Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, when you translate the original tweet, it says “variable” instead. These two statements can potentially have entirely different meanings.

Usually, games divide their framerate options into something like 30, 60, Variable, and No Limit aka uncapped modes. Variable implies that the FPS would fluctuate between a set threshold while No Limit removes any threshold that may exist.

Dragon's Dogma 2
The sequel to Dragon’s Dogma arrives this March.

Furthermore, the tweet does not clarify whether the upcoming sequel will have this feature on all platforms which some users have promptly pointed out. It should be noted that previous rumors indicated that consoles will only support up to 30FPS.
