Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Leaked Script Reveals Some Wild Scrapped Ideas

The old script for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has leaked online, showing off some wild ideas that unfortunately didn’t make the cut. User @zvis_ceral took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share some screenshots of the script found from the goldmine of data published on the net after last year’s ransomware attack on Insomniac.

One of the script sections focuses on the epilogue of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. In the final build, we see Peter revealing the garage setup of his NGO to Mary Jane as Miles drops in on the scene. Peter then talks to him about how he wants to focus on the other side as the latter then takes hold of keeping the city safe. This scene followed by the post-credits was initially written differently.

In the leaked script, Peter is called to the office of Harry’s lawyer as the latter had left something for him. After opening the package and watching the video, he shares a moment with himself before another cinematic is set to play. This one showcases MJ and Peter on a date where the two discuss a ring. In the post-credit scene, however, Otto reveals Peter’s identity to Norman with the G-Serum being ready for human trials.

Another interesting element here is how Harry is pronounced dead instead of being kept in a comatose state. For the uninitiated, the actual ending of this sequel keeps Harry alive leading to certain possible story beats. In the scrapped script, Peter hardens himself to kill his best friend.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched on October 20, 2023, for PlayStation 5. eXputer gave it a resounding 4/5 review score, praising the game for being more of the same with some new mechanics.
