This year has marked the beginning of Xbox’s multiplatform as we see its exclusive games being ported to other platforms. Aside from Sea of Thieves, various other games have either been announced or rumored for a PlayStation and Nintendo Switch release. Among the confirmed names are Grounded, Pentiment, and last year’s shadow-drop hit—Hi-Fi Rush.
Xbox’s multiplatform strategy had several rumors surrounding it before the official business podcast clarified things. While it hasn’t been ruled out altogether, as of now titles like Starfield, Indiana Jones, and more are not going to arrive on competitor hardware. Furthermore, there was also talk about Xbox saying farewell to consoles among all the rumors though Phil Spencer later confirmed that’s not the case.
Sea of Thieves set sail on March 20, 2018, for Xbox One and PC. While critic reviews weren’t in favor of the game, it saw growth and established itself with a loyal community of 35 million players. It’s bound to go higher as the game arrives on PlayStation 5 later this year.
