The Best Curved Greatswords in Elden Ring are easily unnoticeable solely due to the fact that you might end up using other weapon archetypes in favor of them. These weapons are easily distinguishable mostly because they have a horizontal swing in their normal attacks. Two-handing them can largely increase their damage, but at the end of the day, each of them is unique, and their full potential is scaled off of your character’s stats.
- Elden Ring has a total of nine Curved Greatswords in the game, but only a few of them manage to land on our list of the best ones to use for different playstyles.
- Onyx Lord’s Greatsword can be a solid choice for intelligence build players, but there are so many better weapons that it ultimately falls flat compared to other curved greatswords.
- The Monk‘s Flameblade has an average attack rating, and while it can certainly go with most Dex builds, there are certainly better alternatives to choose rather than this one.
- The Zamor Curved Sword can be differentiated from the other curved greatswords due to its short length and unique moveset and also its weapon skill to provide hyper armor.
- Dismounter can be acquired fairly early on in the game from the Kaiden Sellsword enemies and can be a good option to dual-wield until players can get better-curved greatswords.
- The Beastman’s Cleaver offers versatility to how players assign affinities to it as it’s a decent choice for almost anything from basic quality builds even to bleed-focused ones.
- Magma Wyrm’s Greatsword not only looks visually appealing, but it is also a great weapon for Faith and Strength hybrid builds, and its skill allows the player to spew lava onto enemies.
- Omen Cleaver‘s notable specialty revolves around finding a pair and dual-wielding them, which, when focused on bleed, can deal an absurd amount of damage on enemies.
- Morgott’s Cursed Sword scales off of Arcane and Dexterity, and its main weapon skill allows players to slash away at their enemies in a diagonal manner, dealing bleed damage.
- The Bloodhound’s Fang is easily the top-tier curved greatsword due to its insane damage and weapon skill that can help players overcome any obstacle in the mid-to-late game of Elden Ring.

9. Onyx Lord’s Greatsword

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 118 | 57 |
Magic | 76 | 42 |
Fire | 0 | 29 |
Light | 0 | 29 |
Holy | 0 | 29 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 44 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | D | 20 |
Dexterity | E | 16 |
Intelligence | D | 16 |
The Onyx Lord Greatsword doesn’t do much in favor of the other weapons in its archetype as the attack rating is fairly low, and there are much better options to use on an Intelligence build of your character. What makes it even worse is that the weapon cannot be infused with Ash of Wars and sorcery enchantments to make it a worthwhile weapon to use.
- The Onyx Lord Greatsword’s unique weapon skill is called Onyx Lord’s Repulsion, in which your character will thrust the sword into the ground and cause an AoE Gravity attack which can also knock enemies back.
- The FP usage to activate the skill itself, as well as the fact that you gain no hyper armor during the animation, makes it all the more of a mediocre curved greatsword on our list.
- Lastly, you can find Onyx Lord’s Greatsword by defeating the Onyx Lord.
8. Monk’s Flameblade

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 134 61 | 61 |
Magic | 0 | 33 |
Fire | 0 | 33 |
Light | 0 | 33 |
Holy | 0 | 33 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 39 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | D | 18 |
Dexterity | D | 18 |
The Monk’s Flameblade starts off at the bottom of our list, solely due to the fact that you will have to claim it via an RNG (Random number generated) drop but also because it has the lowest damage in comparison to the other curved greatswords on our list. The weapon is stated to be “Wielded by the Fire Monks who came from the Mountaintops of the Giants.”
Don’t get us wrong, the scaling on the weapon is great, especially if you’re looking to craft a particularly unique Dexterity Build. Still, the mediocre attack rating just makes such a difference that you will most likely end up using a whole different weapon archetype or curved greatsword in general.
- Not to mention that the length of the Monk’s Flameblade is relatively smaller than that of its opposing choices, making it fairly lackluster, especially in PVP.
- Plus, there are a handful of other weapons in the game which have better skills than the Spinning Slash.
- Just as the lore of the weapon states, it can only be obtained by the fire monks, who can be easily found in the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave located on the Mountaintop of the Giants.
- It can also be found by farming the Blackflame Monk, which is located at the bottom of the Divine Tower of Caelid. It should be worth keeping in mind that the weapon is completely luck-based to drop upon defeating these enemies, so it may take you a couple of runs to even dozens to farm it.
7. Zamor Curved Sword

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 125 | 61 |
Magic | 0 | 33 |
Fire | 0 | 33 |
Light | 0 | 33 |
Holy | 0 | 33 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 39 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | D | 16 |
Dexterity | D | 18 |
The Zamor Curved Sword is distinctive from most other weapons on this list as it is the shortest curved greatsword among the current ones available in the game right now. Furthermore, according to the lore, it is stated as a “Weapon wielded by the knights of Zamor who earned great renown during the War against the Giants.”
The weapon cannot be infused with any ashes of war. Still, aside from that, you get a pretty amazing skill on it called the Zamor Ice Storm. When activated, it will make your character plunge the sword into the ground, after which it unleashes an AoE frost attack on nearby enemies caught within its radius.
- The poise and stagger damage on the skill is easily a highlight of the weapon, also since it provides hyper-armor too to your character, which in layman’s terms means that your character won’t get interrupted during its animation.
- Lastly, the weapon also has a unique moveset as compared to others, as your character will swing toward enemies four times in a 360-degree manner.
- You can find the Zamor Curved Sword by defeating the Ancient Hero of Zamor, who is the final boss of the Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave dungeon, which can be found in the Mountain Top of the Giants.
- Overall, the weapon is a solid option, especially if you want to power stance and pair it with one of the best Curved Greatswords in the game, the Bloodhound fang. Regardless of which, there are still much better options than it.
6. Dismounter

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 138 | 65 |
Magic | 0 | 35 |
Fire | 0 | 35 |
Light | 0 | 35 |
Holy | 0 | 35 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 42 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | D | 19 |
Dexterity | D | 16 |
It goes without saying that the Dismounter isn’t a popular choice when it comes to Curved greatswords by many players in the community. But thankfully, there are rare exceptions, as a few hardcore and casual players have a soft side and adoration for using it in their playthrough. The weapon surely isn’t unique by all means, but where it excels at is its length as well as being able to be used right from the beginning hours of the game.
It is similar in regard to stats and requirements with the Omen Cleaver (another curved greatsword in our list). Still, thankfully, if you’re someone who’s looking to get the best melee range on foes or are planning to craft a Quality build, then the Dismounter can fulfill that goal to some extent in its affinity infusions.
- It can also be infused with almost any kind of Ash of War to upgrade its special attack arsenal, so rather than sticking with the default spinning slash, try to find something worthwhile to add as an extra DPS component.
- You can obtain the Dismounter by defeating the Kaiden Sellswords, which are those horseback-riding militia warriors found in the early stages of the game all over Limgrave, most specifically in camps and outposts.
5. Beastman’s Cleaver

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 143 | 81 |
Magic | 0 | 43 |
Fire | 0 | 43 |
Light | 0 | 43 |
Holy | 0 | 43 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 52 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | C | 25 |
Dexterity | – | 14 |
At first glance, you may notice that the Beastman’s Cleaver almost resembles one-half of the iconic Blades of Chaos from the God of War games. Although it still ranks fairly low on our top list, make no mistake that we chose to put it in the top five because when this curved greatsword is used properly in capable hands, it can shred through the health bar of all kinds of enemies in Elden Ring.
The Beastman’s Cleaver is a weapon that can be infused with quite a few of the Best Ash of Wars. Also allowing you to experiment and imbue it with various types of magical enchantments. But keep in mind, the true difference maker is when you adjust the weapon with affinities such as Bleed, Quality, or Poison. In our experience, we found that the weapon becomes ridiculously strong if you dual-wield or power-stance it.
- Even without dual-wielding and with 80 Strength along with the Heavy affinity, we were able to deal damage close enough to match that of the Greatswords in the game.
- The default weapon skill is the same as the Monk’s Flameblade, the spinning slash.
- Now the only real annoyance arises when you realize that the drop rate for this weapon is so low that farming for it can be a minor headache in itself.
- You have a chance to discover the Beastman’s Cleaver curved greatsword when defeating Azula Beastmen, who can be found in the endgame areas of Elden Ring called the Crumbling Farum Azula.
- Overall, the short weapon length may require it to be in the face of your foes, but besides that, it can also get the job done with room for flexibility in its play style if necessary.
4. Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 114 | 66 |
Magic | 0 | 33 |
Fire | 74 | 48 |
Light | 0 | 33 |
Holy | 0 | 33 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 50 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | C | 24 |
Dexterity | D | 15 |
Faith | D | 18 |
If you’re someone like me who prefers Faith/Strength hybrid builds, then you’re in luck, as the Magma Wyrm’s Greatsword is tuned just for that sort of play style due to its scaling and requirements.
The visuals on the weapon itself look something out of Monster Hunter, too, which all the more makes it an eye-catchy choice for many players.
- It is strongly advised that you invest in your strength stat until around level 60 or more, and by then, you will be able to maximize its damage output. You can also level up your Faith to around level 30, which is ideal since you will be able to use buffs alongside it, such as “Flame Give Me Strength.”
- Activating its unique weapon skill, Magma Guillotine will make the player launch forward and strike the ground with the weapon, which will pour out lava in a small radius and deal fire damage to any enemies caught within it.
- However, it is worth noting that you can get interrupted when executing the skill as it doesn’t provide any hyper armor to your character during the animation. Still, at least the damage compensates for it, as enemies vulnerable to fire will easily get scorched by it.
- Lastly, you can receive the weapon by defeating the Magma Wyrm Makar found in the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, which is a small area located north of the Liurnia of the Lakes region.
3. Omen Cleaver

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 142 | 68 |
Magic | 0 | 36 |
Fire | 0 | 36 |
Light | 0 | 36 |
Holy | 0 | 36 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 44 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | D | 19 |
Dexterity | D | 16 |
The Omen Cleaver is one of the few Curved Greatswords that you can receive quite early on in the game. What makes it such a great choice is the fact that it is versatile in nature. To explain it briefly, almost each of the affinity infusions of this weapon can be great, from Heavy or Quality to even Bleed.
In our experience playing the game, these finding two Omen Cleavers, infusing them with Bleed, and dual-wielding them carried us through the entirety of the mid-to-late game, so you can be sure that they hit hard with the right builds for them.
- The default weapon art is the Spinning Slash which, if you noticed, is also found on the other curved greatswords previously mentioned in our list.
- Still, we strongly urge you to infuse any other Ash Of War on it to enhance its capabilities even further than imaginable.
- Furthermore, the total attack rating can strongly scale with your stats and its upgrades; combine that with its long length as well as the flexible affinity infusions, and it is a superb all-rounder curved greatsword.
- Unfortunately, where you may feel a little disappointed is the fact that it is yet another weapon which is a rare drop from a certain enemy of the game.
- The Omen Cleaver can only be obtained by defeating the ‘Omens,’ which are the large-sized warrior enemies. You can efficiently farm one of them towards the end of Stormveil Castle in the courtyard, which conveniently also has a site of grace near it, making the farming runs easier.
2. Morgott’s Cursed Sword

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 120 | 55 |
Magic | 0 | 29 |
Fire | 0 | 29 |
Light | 0 | 29 |
Holy | 0 | 29 |
Critical/ Boost | 110 | 35 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | E | 14 |
Dexterity | C | 35 |
Arcane | D | 17 |
Now moving on to the most unique curved greatswords of the playerbase, the Morgott’s Cursed Sword is easily one of our favorites, one that we used on its own despite popular builds suggesting to power stance it the likes of the Bloodhound’s Fang. The weapon’s attack rate primarily scales off of Dexterity and Arcane, making it a superb choice for Arcane Builds with a bit of Dexterity to help with improving its damage potential.
- What makes it even special is the fact that Morgott’s Cursed Sword has the longest range out of every curved greatsword on our list, with the Dismounter only falling in second place to it.
- Its unique weapon ash of war, is called the Cursed-Blood Slice, where your character will charge forward and deal a flaming blood slash to enemies causing Blood Loss build-up, and you can also follow it up with another slash right after the first one.
- The skill allows you to possess hyper armor during the animation, and not only is the damage great, but in our tests with the weapon, the light attacks combined with the weapon art worked flawlessly in combination.
- Furthermore, if you invest a few points into Faith, enough to unlock spells such as Bloodboon and Swarm of Flies, then this weapon can work great enough to help you withstand PVP battles of the Colosseums.
- Lastly, the weapon is obtained by exchanging the Remembrance of the Omen King in the Roundtable Hold, which is acquired once you defeat Morgott, The Omen King, towards the endgame moments.
1. Bloodhound’s Fang

Base Stats | Attack | Guard |
Physical | 141 | 68 |
Magic | 0 | 36 |
Fire | 0 | 36 |
Light | 0 | 36 |
Holy | 0 | 36 |
Critical/ Boost | 100 | 44 |
Stats | Scaling | Requirements |
Strength | D | 18 |
Dexterity | C | 17 |
Finally, it brings us to the last curved greatsword weapons on our list, and one which many may have seen coming would be on the top, but it surely deserves that appraisal. It became one of the most popular and sought-after armaments in the game and, quite honestly, the Best Weapons In Elden Ring. Bloodhound’s Fang has the highest raw damage in the game, plus it’s obtainable very early on, so what more could you ask for here?
- The special weapon art is called the Bloodhound’s Finesse, where your character will leap in a somersault manner, slashing at the foe, and then by pressing the heavy attack input, you can follow it up with another ranged swing.
- The follow-up attack will offer a significant amount of invulnerability frames for your character, which alone makes it such a fantastic curved greatsword for various beginner-level players of the game.
- Moreover, you can also enchant the weapon with various kinds of magical buffs, such as the blood flame blade, which will make its blood loss buildup on enemies much deadlier.
- If you can pair the Bloodhound’s Fang up with the Best Talismans, such as the Shard of Alexander, and use it in two-handed mode, then this weapon can put in serious work for anyone using a Quality build.
- Lastly, you can acquire the weapon by defeating Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, a mini-boss who is located in the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave.
- So if you’re well well-equipped and prepared in the early stages of the game, you can head straight there before continuing with the rest of the game and pick up this superbly crafted weapon.
The Wrap-Up
According to the following Subreddit Post, it is obvious that the Bloodhounds Fang is easily one of the best curved greatswords for many players in Elden Ring. While many may argue against that due to its strong damage output to make things easier, you have the luxury to choose any weapon that suits your playstyle the best. From the Best Strength Weapons to the Armor Sets, there is an endless variety to customize your character with.
Not to mention the Bosses in this game are easily the best out of most Soulsborne games, with each one offering their own tenacious challenge, from Starscourge Radhan to the infamous Melania, Blade of Miquella. It might even do you good to hunt down all of the Golden Seeds in order to maximize your HP. Lastly, you may also get tempted to try out each of our best builds, ranging from ones for the Samurai to the Vagabond class.
When it comes to setting a bar for the Best Open World games, Elden Ring has succeeded in that, and we couldn’t be more excited to play the upcoming DLC too.
