Elden Ring: How To Defeat The Godskin Apostle

The following are my tips on how to defeat Godskin Apostle according to my experience.

Defeating the Godskin Apostle boss is a pretty tough task in Elden Ring. You may find it difficult because he has every counter for your retreat during a battle with his long and short-distanced attacks. He is predictable, though, which is what you will focus on in order to slay it.

Key Takeaways
  • Godskin Apostle variants: Windmill Village and Divine Tower of Caelid.
  • Weakness: Vulnerable to Bleed and Slash damage; River of Blood for additional blood loss buildup.
  • Short-range strategy: Induce sleep with Sleep pots for healing opportunities.
  • Avoid high-damage Black Flame Attacks to prevent potential instant death.
  • Consider using Comet Azur as a cheese strategy for defeating the Godskin Apostle.
  • Windmill Village Apostle rewards 14,000 Runes, Godskin Peeler, and Scouring Black Flame Spell.
  • Divine Tower Apostle rewards 94,000 Runes, God Slayer’s Greatsword, and the Godskin Set.

The locations for the Godskin Apostles are Windmill Village and Divine Tower of Caelid.

  • To face these formidable bosses, it’s advisable to be at least level 70 or higher.
  • Each Godskin Apostle has two phases, making it crucial to plan and strategize for their attacks.
  • Finding a suitable build and preparing for their unique moves is essential for a victorious battle.

Windmill Village Apostle

Finding the Windmill Village location of the Godskin Apostle is easier than finding the Apostle in Caelid. Simply open the map and pinpoint the location mentioned in the image. It is an uphill area after Windmill Village, and you will encounter many enchantresses that you shouldn’t really be bothered by.

  1. In the pitch-black area of Caelid, head towards the northern coastline.
  2. Look for a tall building, the Divine Tower, and navigate around it, as there’s no direct entrance.
  3. After reaching the structure, find stairs, climb up, and enter the tower.
  4. Take a left on the base wall edges and jump on a square platform.
  5. Continue descending on the platforms until you reach the basement.
  6. Use elevators, follow the path, and you’ll find a blurred door with the Apostle behind it.

Preparation

You may have to prepare for the battle before fighting the boss. The random attacks it makes can render your health bad.

Here’s a list of strategies that, from my experience, you should follow:

  • Godskin’s Apostle is less affected by Magic weapons, so use a Bleed weapon.
  • Opt for Rivers Of Blood due to its significant blood buildup.
  • Carry Spirit of Ashes for distractions and tanking.
  • Use the Greatshield Soldier’s Spirit Ashes for protection during attacks.
  • For close-range staggering, consider dual-wielding Rivers Of Blood to increase poise damage.
  • Use the Fires Of Slumber skill or Sleep pot to make the Apostle go to sleep.

If you want to stay straight up in its face and attack him, you have to have a proper bleed build. Bleed weapons are its weakness.

The following is my strategy to beat Godskin Apostle according to my experience:

  • Counter Black Flame attacks for a two-hit opportunity up close.
  • Stagger the Apostle with critical hits for combo attacks and bleed buildup.
  • Wait for openings after attacks to inflict Slash damage.
  • Perform jump attacks to stagger the boss.
  • Spam heavy attacks to reduce health by half, then defend against stretch attacks.
  • In the second phase, attack the legs when it stretches.
  • Consider using sleep pots to make the Godskin Apostle sleep.

Long-Ranged Strategy

Now, because some people might confront him due to the Apostle’s quick and aggressive attacks, there is also a long-range attack strategy. It is just as reliable but requires quite some FP in order to pull off.

These are my tips for a long-range strategy:

  • Distract the Apostle with Spirit Of Ashes Greatsword Soldiers to maintain distance.
  • Use Comet Azur.
  • Spell spamming, especially when the Apostle is distracted, is an effective strategy.
  • Cerulean Hidden Tear can extend the duration of Comet Azur.
