As mentioned earlier, Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world game, so the developers have created a world that can be something that can prove that. Open-world games have a lot of different quests, side activities, and collectibles. This is why they have a vast world so that they can spread them all across it. So devs end up creating huge map sizes and the overall world as well.

Hogwarts Legacy is no exception, either. The map is big and spans around 2.95 square miles, which is around 7.64 square kilometers. If you have played other Open-world games, you might think this is a fairly smaller map size. That is true because compared to other games, Hogwarts Legacy actually has a very small map size and doesn’t span that much. Check out our Hogwarts Legacy: how to open the main gate guide

However, the massiveness of Hogwarts Legacy comes from not just map size. The map size does not include the vastness of Hogwarts itself. Moreover, Hogwarts Legacy actually has a lot of things cramped on this map which makes it feel even bigger. Many different quests, trials, collectibles, and NPCs fill this map which makes it feel a lot bigger than it is supposed to be, and most players love it because of this.

Hogwarts Legacy Regions

Like most open-world games, Hogwarts Legacy is broken down into different regions. This is done to make it easier for the players to access locations and fast travel during quests. These regions are specific and have their own uniqueness that separates each of them. Also, consider checking our Hogwarts Legacy Chess Puzzle guide.

Each region has its own number of enemies, trials, quests, and much more. There are many secrets hidden in every corner of these regions. There are a total of 14 regions in Hogwarts Legacy which fill up the entire map size. They are as follows:

  • North Ford Bog
  • Forbidden Forest
  • Hogsmeade Valley
  • South Hogwarts
  • Hogwarts Valley
  • South Sea Bog
  • Coastal Cavern
  • Poidsear Coast
  • Cragcroftshire
  • Clagmar Coast
  • Manor Cape
  • Marunweem Lake
  • Feldcroft
  • North Hogwarts

All of these regions will give a completely unique feel. They will also remind you of exactly how magical the Wizarding World actually is. If you like this guide, consider checking our Hogwarts Legacy All Landing Platforms Guide as well.

Hogwarts Legacy Map Size Comparison

As we all know, Hogwarts Legacy is not the only Open-world game. In this day and age, devs have taken a liking to the genre of Open-world games in general. Each open-world game has things that make them distinct and different. But one thing that they all have is their vast map sizes. Many spans to the size of real-life countries, and some only span about a town. Hogwarts Legacy is pretty big, but it is much smaller compared to others.

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the latest Assassin’s Creed game, and its map size is 36 square miles. However, much of it can feel empty, which adds to its specific atmosphere.
  • Elden Ring is one of the games that is most compared to Hogwarts, and its map spans about 30 square miles. While Elden Ring is huge, it is also filled to the brim like Hogwarts Legacy.
  • Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most popular open-world games out right now. Its map size is about 23.5 square miles, and is mostly green plains and just enemies. While it does add a layer to the post-apocalyptic feel of Breath of the Wild, it sure wouldn’t fit the 1800s Hogwarts
  • Lastly, Red Dead Redemption 2 is another one of the most popular open-world games. While it may be about a few cowboys on the run from the law, it actually is quite massive compared to most games. The map size is around 75 square miles. You get to travel to America, but Hogwarts exists in Scotland, so bigger isn’t better.

Conclusion

That covers everything you need to know about Hogwarts Legacy’s map size. While for some the map be a bit small. But in truth, it does not let you feel any less grand in your adventure. The map size still is adequate enough for the players to enjoy the Wizarding World to its fullest.
